Changes at a trio of Hong Kong-listed companies lead this week’s review of personnel moves from around Asia’s real estate industry as a pair of mainland China groups name new leaders and the stock exchange itself adds talent.
The manager of Yuexiu Real Estate Investment Trust announced to the Hong Kong stock exchange on 22 May that it has appointed Jiang Guoxiong as a non-executive director on its board with the deputy general manager of the REIT’s sponsor, Yuexiu Property, also named chairman of the decision-making body. Jiang is taking over as chairman from Lin Deliang (pictured) who will retain his executive director role, while Li Feng is resigning as non-executive director with the Guangzhou-based REIT. The REIT has also promoted executive director Ou Haijing to chief executive officer while Jiang was also named chairman of Yuexiu Property affiliate Yuexiu Services Group.
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd, the operator of the Hong Kong stock exchange, announced on 19 May that it has appointed Herbert Hui as group chief financial officer. Hui will take over the CFO role from Vanessa Lau, who will continue to serve with the exchange in her position as chief operating officer. Before joining the HKEX, Hui was group financial controller with developer Wheelock Properties and also previously served as finance director with public transport operator MTR Corporation.
Mainland developer Gemdale Properties and Investment Corporation notified the Hong Kong stock exchange on 22 May that Ling Ke (pictured) has resigned from his role as executive director on the company’s board, with Li Ronghui taking over the leadership role. Now 53, Li is president and chief financial officer of Shanghai-listed Gemdale Corporation and holds a MBA degree from the Xi’an University of Technology.
The manager of Fortune Real Estate Investment Trust said on 23 May that John Lim Hwee Chiang (pictured) has resigned as a non-executive director of its board with effect from the following day. Lim, who led ARA Asset Management before it was acquired by ESR in 2022, is being replaced on the Hong Kong-based REIT’s board by ESR co-CEO and co-founder Jeffrey Shen, after Lim stepped down from his roles as non-executive director and senior advisor of ESR.
Jeffrey Tay has joined digital infrastructure startup Galaxy Data Center Group as chief development officer where he is helping to plot the Singapore-based startup’s regional expansion, according to a LinkedIn update. Tay took on his new role after more than two years as vice president, head of APAC business development and chief business development director for the digital power business at Huawei. Tay also previously led strategic partnerships at Singapore data centre operator SpaceDC.
Newmark continues its regional expansion with the US-based property consultancy hiring Lynus Pook as executive director of commercial and industrial brokerage in Singapore. Pook joins Newmark this month after nearly four years with Colliers in the city-state, where he had served as executive director of head of industrial advisory for Singapore. The University of Queensland graduate also has previous experience with Cushman & Wakefield, Credit Suisse and Savills.
Hines has promoted Maala Malhotra to deputy director of marketing and communications with its India business, according to a LinkedIn update. Malhotra took her latest step up with the US developer and fund manager after more than two years as an associate director with the same department. Malhotra has now been with with Hines for more than six years and also has previous experience with developer Emaar.
Savills said on 22 May that it has appointed Cheng Su Chen as group managing director for its property management and facilities services division as the property consultancy ramps up its business in the sector. Cheng joins Savills after more than 23 years with Cushman & Wakefield in Singapore, where she served most recently as group managing director with one of the company’s services divisions.
