
Ben Taylor, Fund Manager, Scape
Ben joined Scape in January 2025 as the Fund Manager for the sector leading, open-ended Scape Australia Core Fund. In this role, he oversees the management, performance and growth of the Fund which consists of 35 high quality student accommodation assets totaling over 17,300 beds and valued at ~ A$6 billion. Prior to joining Scape, Ben co-founded an impact-led Community Housing Provider investment platform and prior to that was at Nuveen, where he led housing-related investment strategies in Australia and supported sector growth across the APAC region. With 18 years of experience in real estate investment and management, Ben has also held senior roles at AXA Investment Managers and spent his early career at Charter Hall and Macquarie Group.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Mathematics and Finance from University of Wollongong and a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction and the Dean’s Award) from the University of Melbourne’s Business School. He is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Scape launched in Australia in 2014 and has since become the biggest purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) owner and operator.
Scape is home to over 18,500 beds in 38 buildings across Australia’s four key educational precincts – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide – as well as 10 buildings in planning and development, which will bring the portfolio to 23,000 beds by 2025.
Scape employs more than 800 people and is the largest investor in Australia’s higher education sector, with $6 billion (AUD) in capital committed since 2018.
