In other hot moves around the region, there are new appointments at Colliers International in Singapore and Shanghai, while JLL brings in a new face for its flexible space team in Hong Kong.

stephan devilleIt was a happy return to Asia for Stéphan Deville who stepped up to President of Group Real Estate in China for Ingka, the IKEA unit that develops and operates the Swedish retailer’s stores and shopping centres. Based in Shanghai, Deville’s appointment comes at a time when three new Ingka centres are under construction in China – the first in Changsha scheduled to open in 2020, with two more in Shanghai and Xi’an both scheduled to open in 2022. His team will provide all real estate services for Ingka businesses, from project inception to delivery and facility management. Deville has over ten years of experience with Ingka and Ikea, most recently as Property and Mixed-Use Development Manager for Ikea in Malmo, Sweden.

Charmaine Tso has joined Credit Suisse Asset Management as a Vice President with their Asia Pacific Real Estate team, moving on from Link Asset Management where she was part of its Hong Kong asset management team. Based in Singapore, Tso will be responsible for management of the Swiss real estate investment manager’s properties in the region, focusing on Credit Suisse’s newly launched value add strategy. A veteran of 16 years in real estate asset management, Tso has also worked as an asset manager for CLSA Capital Partners and Pacific Star Group.

Peter Andrew enters his eighth year leading workplace strategy for CBRE in Asia and Pacific by stepping up to Executive Director at the Workplace Centre of Excellence with CBRE’s Advisory and Transactions division in Singapore. An advocate of workplace solutions that drive business value beyond quick real estate savings, prior to joining CBRE in 2012, Andrew served at spatial design consultancy DEGW for 11 years, where he was managing director and director of strategy.

Austin Xu celebrates his tenth year at Colliers International in Shanghai by stepping up to Director of Capital Markets and Investment Services at the property consultancy. Xu takes on his new role after serving as an Associate Director with the investment team for four years. The Tonji University graduate started at Colliers in 2009, joining from Knight Frank, and has previous experience with the office leasing team at the Toronto-based firm.

Colliers International has announced the appointment of Bastiaan van Beijsterveldt to lead business development for its occupier services business in Singapore, which covers the company’s offerings on behalf of tenants including lease administration, tenant representation, and project management. As Director of Business Development for the Occupier Services division, van Beijsterveldt is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, as well as improving synergy and collaboration between the various real estate business lines. Prior to joining Colliers, van Beijsterveldt was based in Seoul where he led JLL’s tenant representation business in South Korea.

Carol Mui has joined JLL as the company’s flexible space lead for Hong Kong, coming over from co-working kingpin WeWork. Mui comes to her role with several years’ experience in the flexible real estate world, having working at Naked Hub and the Hive in the city prior to her stint at WeWork from March 2018 to April 2019 where she was a Broker Relationship Manager. In addition to her real estate pursuits, Mui has a side hustle as a freelance illustrator, muralist and calligrapher, with clients including HSBC, DBS, BNP Paribas and lululemon.
