Asia Real Estate People in the News 2019-03-04

This week’s collection of real estate professionals finding new roles around the region starts out with warehouse heavyweight ESR adding to its team of investment professionals in Singapore with a new addition from asset management firm Aviva. Meanwhile back in Hong Kong, a veteran broker has rejoined the agency world, and in Hong Kong two of the major consultancies seem to be swapping staff again as we roll into March.

Thijs Hupkes ESRThijs Hupkes has joined logistics real estate investment platform ESR in Singapore as Director for Capital and Investments, according to an update to his LinkedIn profile. Hupkes joins ESR, which announced plans for a Hong Kong IPO late last week, from Aviva Investors where he had served as Director for Real Estate Client Solutions in Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Prior to that the CFA charterholder worked at CBRE Global Investors, also in Singapore, as interim Vice President for Investor Services and CBRE Global Investors EMEA in Amsterdam as Director for Investment Strategies and Structuring.

Wayne ChangShanghai-based real estate investment veteran Wayne Chang has joined the Capital Markets team at Cushman & Wakefield where he now serves as Executive Director for Capital Markets in East China. Chang joins the property consultancy’s investment services team from KaiLong Real Estate Investment, where he had worked as Executive Director of Portfolio Management for the property fund manager. Chang is familiar to many real estate professionals in the China from having previously served as Director of Capital Markets and Investment Services at Colliers International in Shanghai, where he successfully brokered 13 investment deals over a six-year period, exceeding $1.94 billion (approximately RMB 13.3 billion) in transaction value, according to a statement from Cushman & Wakefield.

renee luiRenee Lui has been promoted to Senior Investment Manager at Country Garden Asset Management in Hong Kong, just nine months after joining the division of Guangdong-based developer Country Garden as an investment manager. Prior to joining Country Garden, the candidate for a Master of Science Degree in Real Estate at Hong Kong University had spent around six years at property consultancy JLL where she had served most recently as Assistant Manager for Valuation and Advisory Services

Alex_lam colliersColliers International has brought on board a pair of office leasing veterans in Hong Kong, with the company announcing recently that Alex Lam and Laurens Chan, both formerly directors with JLL’s office leasing team in the city, had joined the Canadian-based property consultancy. Lam (pictured) will now be serving as a Senior Director for Office Services with Colliers in Hong Kong after spending 13 years at JLL, while Chan’s job title was not specified.

rosanna tangColliers is also adding to its research team in Hong Kong, with the company announcing late last month that Rosanna Tang has rejoined the firm as Head of Research for Hong Kong and Southern China. Prior to joining Colliers Tang had served as in the Corporate Planning and Strategic Investment Department at developer Sun Hung Kai Properties in the city, where she led and contributed to research analysis for Hong Kong and overseas property markets. Tang also has previous experience with CBRE and JP Morgan.
