A fresh update from the head of Shenzhen’s Kaisa Group leads this week’s collection of personnel moves from around the region with the once-detained, twice-defaulted entrepreneur being named to the board of Kaisa’s property management unit. Also making the list are new leaders at Tokyo Trust Capital in Japan and at Hong Kong-listed Sino-Ocean Service.

Kaisa Prosperity Holdings informed the Hong Kong stock exchange on 16 April that Kaisa Group Holdings chairman and co-founder Kwok Ying Shing has been appointed as an executive director on its board with effect from that same day. Kwok, who also heads Kaisa Health Group and Kaisa Capital Investment Holdings, replaces Xu Binhong, who is retiring from the board of the property management unit of Kaisa Group after less than one year, reportedly to pursue personal endeavours.

Christopher Handte, Tokyo Trust CapitalJapanese investment manager Tokyo Trust Capital has promoted Chris Handte to chief executive officer, with the upgrade coming less than eight months after Handte joined the affiliate of Singapore’s TE Capital as a managing director last year. In his new role, the former BlackRock and GE Capital Real Estate executive takes over from Minoru Machida in guiding Tokyo Trust’s business managing inbound capital with opportunities in Japan, and working with Japanese investors for ventures overseas.

Sino-Ocean Service Holding Ltd announced to the Hong Kong stock exchange on 16 April that it has appointed Hou Min as a non-executive director on its board where he will take over as vice chairman from Zhu Xiaoning, who has retired from the board. The change in directors took place on the day of the announcement, with Hou, now 43, currently a deputy general manager in the chief executive’s office with the company’s parent entity, Sino-Ocean Group.

John FreemanJohn Freeman has been upgraded to group president with Digital Edge DC in Singapore, after more than four years as chief legal officer with the digital infrastructure platform, according to a LinkedIn update. Before joining the portfolio company of US private equity firm Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners in 2020, Freeman had spent more than 16 years with India infrastructure giant Tata Communications working in Singapore, India and the US.

James AssersohnJames Assersohn has been promoted to senior vice president with DFS Group Ltd in Hong Kong, according to a LinkedIn update. Assersohn took his step up this month after more than five years as a vice president for global real estate with the duty-free shopping giant, where he has been responsible for acquisition and ongoing portfolio management for the company’s real estate footprint globally.

Tricia Song_CBRE - 5 JulCBRE has named Tricia Song as an executive director with its team in Singapore, where she continues to serve as head of research for Singapore and Southeast Asia. Song received her executive director title after leading research for CBRE in the region for nearly three years. The Nanyang Technological University of Singapore graduate also has previous experience with Colliers and Barclays Bank in the city-state.

Clayton EvansClayton Evans has joined JLL in Hong Kong as a senior director with the property consultancy’s office leasing team, according to a LinkedIn update. Evans stepped into his new role this month after nearly 10 years with Cushman & Wakefield in the city, where he served most recently as an executive director for office leasing. The University of Queensland graduate also has previous experience with CBRE and Colliers.

Martin Wong Knight FrankMartin Wong has been promoted to senior director at Knight Frank Greater China, where he continues to serve as head of research and consultancy for the region, according to a LinkedIn update. Based in Hong Kong, Wong got his new title this month after more than three years as a director in the same division, and has now been with Knight Frank since 2017. Wong also has previous experience with Arup and Entertainment and Culture Advisors (ECA) in the city.
