Hear From Blackstone, Swire and APG at Mingtiandi’s Hong Kong Forum on 27 June

More than 250 senior real estate executives from around Asia Pacific are expected to attend the Mingtiandi Hong Kong Focus Forum on 27 August, as more speakers join the roster of industry stars appearing at the on-location event.

Just this week Blackstone managing director Pak Man Yuen has been confirmed to appear in a panel on value-add strategies in Hong Kong, where he will appear beside Lofter Group founder Carol Chow and a senior director from APG Asset Management.

These newly confirmed speakers will be joining the agenda headlined by PAG chairman and chief executive officer Shan Weijian, who will appear an onstage interview following the release of his latest book, Money Machine, about his firm’s takeover of Shenzhen Development Bank more than 15 years ago.

More than 10 million visitors crossed Hong Kong’s air, land and sea borders during the first five months of 2023, according to official statistics, with May arrivals reaching more than 50 percent of pre-pandemic levels and rekindling demand for commercial leasing.

With the mainland market also rebounding, the agenda for the forum at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Tsim Sha Tsui will cover investments in both Hong Kong and mainland China.

As northern Asia rapidly becomes a top target for core investors, the show will also feature a session on Korea and Japan opportunities.

Opening the all-day event will be keynote panel led by Link REIT CEO George Hongchoy, APG head of Asia real estate Graeme Torre, WeWork Greater China vice president Conan Quan and Francis Li, international director, vice president and head of capital markets for Greater China at Cushman & Wakefield.

With all sessions in the show to be streamed over Mingtiandi’s MTD TV video platform, the Hong Kong Focus Forum builds on the success of Mingtiandi’s Singapore event in October of last year.

For the Singapore forum, more than 200 industry professionals attended in person, while another 2,300 watched the programme live on MTD TV and recordings of the forum have been viewed more than 5,000 times.

Among the attendees at the 2022 Singapore event were representatives of AIA, APG, CPPIB, GIC, Manulife Allianz Real Estate (now PIMCO Prime Real Estate), Ping An and Brookfield.

In the past three years, Mingtiandi has now staged 15 real estate forums – more industry events than any other organisation in Asia.
