Asia Real Estate People in the News 2018-03-12

Leading today’s roundup of real estate job changes, an agency alum has taken a top job at a Warburg Pincus-backed industrial developer in Vietnam, and an urban design veteran is moving to China’s Tianjin to work for AECOM. Singapore’s Mapletree has hired a new leasing pro in Shanghai, and a specialty firm that administers real estate funds has welcomed a new managing director for Asia. Read on for all these personnel moves and more.

Greg OhanGreg Ohan BW Industrial has moved on from the agency world to join leading logistics and industrial builder BW Industrial Development JSC in Ho Chi Minh City as Deputy CEO. BW Industrial Development, which builds institutional-grade warehouses and factories across Vietnam, is a joint venture between global private equity firm Warburg Pincus and the country’s largest infrastructure developer Becamex IDC Corp. Ohan was previously Director at JLL in Vietnam, and before that he held a series of brokerage and office services roles at rival consultancy CBRE in Vietnam, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Matthias BauerMatthias Bauer AECOM has joined civil engineering firm AECOM as Technical Director – Urban Planning & Urban Design, based in the northeastern Chinese city of Tianjin. The architecture and urban design specialist is relocating from Beijing, where he held a technical leadership role at engineering consultancy Atkins for a decade, overseeing the urban planning and urban design studios covering northern and southwestern China and Southeast Asia. Bauer started his career in Dresden, Germany before jumping to the UK and now Tianjin.

Coco LinCoco Lin Mapletree is now Senior Associate Director, Leasing at Singapore-based developer Mapletree, working out of the firm’s Shanghai office. The Shanghai Jiaotong University alum was previously Senior Leasing & Operations Manager at private equity shop Gaw Capital for nearly four and a half years. Lin has also served as a customer relationship manager at property consultancy JLL, with responsibility the Azia Center office skyscraper in Shanghai’s Lujiazui financial district.

Peter TrollopePeter Trollope JLL is now Head of Sales & Accounts at JLL, based in Singapore, after serving as Solutions Development Director – Asia Pacific at the brokerage since 2013. Trollope joined JLL in 2011, working in the Hong Kong office as Business Development Director for Greater China. The University of Manchester graduate formerly held a series of construction management and project management roles at builder firm Mace Group in London, Macao and Shanghai.

Jimmy LeongJimmy Leung Augentius has been appointed as Managing Director, Asia of Augentius, the specialist global private equity and real estate fund administrator. Based in Singapore, Leong is tasked with harnessing opportunities in Asia’s growing private equity sector to drive business expansion. Augentius provides administrative services for over 490 funds globally with $145 billion in assets under management. Leong has two decades of senior management experience with Asian and international financial institutions, including boutique consulting firm Glaux Investment Pte, where he served as Managing Partner.

Cherry LeeCherry Lee WeWork has joined US co-working giant WeWork as Senior Director, Real Estate, based in Guangzhou this month. WeWork has a network of flexible office locations across Beijing and Shanghai in mainland China and is eyeing future centres in southern China’s Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Lee, who graduated from the University of Sydney, previously worked at global real estate consultancy JLL for nearly 14 years, most recently in the position of Local Director.
