Asia’s largest logistics developers and fund managers are teaming up with a veteran advisor next week to share insights on the impact of e-commerce on China’s warehouse market in an exclusive panel discussion on Mingtiandi’s MTD TV.

Top executives from GLP, ESR and Cushman & Wakefield will be taking part in the one-hour session, which is sponsored by Yardi, to provide their understanding from on the ground in China, on how the on-going growth of the world’s largest e-commerce market is continuing to fuel demand for more efficient logistics systems and fresh supply of investment-grade distribution facilities.

The panel discussion takes place at 10:00 am Hong Kong time on Wednesday, 21 July, and you can register for the session by clicking on the button below.

The event is the final session in Mingtiandi’s five-part Asia Logistics Real Estate Forum, which has already attracted more than 1,500 viewers, and follows earlier sessions with Allianz Real Estate, Ivanhoe Cambridge, ARA Asset Management-backed Logos Property, and other industry leaders.

Asia’s Biggest Builders

By the end of 2019 sales in China’s e-commerce market had already surpassed the combined value in the US and Europe, with the industry expected to grow by a compounded annual growth rate of 12.4 percent from 2021 to 2024, according to statistics from global data.

To keep pace with this demand, logistics developers are competing to secure new sites at the same time that they introduce new systems to meet demand for ever-faster shipping times.

With competition increasing in the China market, Mingtiandi has selected three panelists to share their insights into what’s happening this year and what to expect in the years to come.

Joining the discussion from GLP will be Victor Mok, chairman and chief executive of the asset service platform for GLP China. Mok had served as a co-president of GLP China before taking on his current role with the largest Asia-based warehouse developer and fund manager, and now leads a business unit focused on managing the company’s warehouse portfolio, including leading tech integration into the logistics ecosystem.

Representing ESR, which is the largest logistics developer and fund manager focused on Asia, will be the Hong Kong-listed company’s chief operating officer for China, Zhou Bo. Having first joined Shanghai-based e-Shang in 2013 before its merger with Japan’s Redwood Group to form ESR in 2016, Zhou now has more than 20 years experience in China’s logistics industry.

To provide neutral market advice on what investors should expect from China’s logistics real estate market, Dennis Yeo, head of investor services for Asia Pacific at Cushman & Wakefield will also be contributing to the discussion. With nearly 30 years of experience in Asia’s real estate markets, Yeo is an industrial property specialist and frequently advises managers of real estate investment trusts.

Sustainability and Data Centre on the Way

Following the logistics series, MTD TV will be back on 3 August with the first session in our Asia Sustainable Real Estate Forum, which will include sessions on sustainability, wellness and the competition for tenants, as well as a panel on green finance for real estate.

On 31 August, we will begin our APAC Data Centre Forum, with a spotlight interview session on the outlook for innovation in Asia’s data centre industry. Also on the agenda will be a 7 September panel on data centre investment in Asia and a discussion on 14 September dedicated to the outlook for sustainable data centres in the region.

In October, MTD TV will turn its spotlight to the office market, including sessions on office investment and on the future of the office, as well as a look at which markets are likely to show growth as we head into 2022.

MTD TV’s final forum of the year will focus on proptech, and is set to include presentation of the results of the Mingtiandi-Yardi Asia Proptech Survey, which kicked off this week.
