Time for us to enjoy a day of recreation with our comrades
Today is May 2nd, but in most parts of Asia, we’ll pretend that it’s May 1st, and celebrate a spring day outside the office.
Mingtiandi is taking a day off from its daily updates today (except for this one) as the mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore and other parts of Asia celebrate what in the US is largely unknown as International Workers Day, but over here is just known as Labour Day.
If you’re not familiar with the holiday, here’s what Wikipedia can tell you:
“International Workers’ Day, also known as Labour Day in some places, is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement, socialists, communists and anarchists and occurs every year on May Day, 1 May, an ancient European spring holiday.”
For us here at Mingtiandi, it means that most of our readers will be off pursuing pastimes other than real estate market information, so we’re spending the day planning our first investor roundtable event in Hong Kong in two weeks’ time and reviewing job applications from aspiring writers.
