Celebrating Mingtiandi 2K With Two Weeks in the USA

2,000 blog posts deserves a quick sail around the big lake

What you’re reading is the 2,000th blog post at Mingtiandi – just the latest increment in several thousand hours spent building China’s first online real estate intelligence platform in English, but still a milestone that I’m glad to share with all of you.

When I started writing daily updates on Mingtiandi in January 2012, I did so with the intention of finding new ways to share information on China’s real estate industry more effectively, and with the hope that the platform would build an audience. So far, it seems to be working.

During that first month of Mingtiandi attracted just over 1,300 visitors to a pretty basic looking website. 43 months later, we’ll be getting many more visitors than that today. And a mailing list that started with mostly friends and family now gains an average of over 150 new subscriptions each month, primarily from executives at some of the region’s, and the world’s, largest real estate investment firms.

I’ve enjoyed writing all 2,000 of these updates on Mingtiandi, but it would not have happened without the encouragement and advice of many people who know much more about real estates, writing or websites than I do. And of course, the site could not have grown without those of you who have recommended Mingtiandi to your friends and co-workers.

For this, please accept my thanks.

In response to your enthusiastic embrace of the platform, I am already expanding Mingtiandi’s offerings by creating in-depth research reports for distribution via the site. The first of these reports, on the future of China’s shopping malls, will debut in September. And watch for more reports in the coming months.

And, in response to reaching this MTD 2K milestone (my new marketing term for Mingtiandi’s 2,000th post), I’m going to give the platform a rest for a couple of weeks.

Mingtiandi will be published weekly, rather than (close to) daily from August 19th to September 2nd, while I take a quick tour of Minnesota and Upper Michigan.

If there are any major events or transactions, I will do my best to update you, and you can also follow me on Twitter @Mingtiandi.

In the meantime, thanks for all of your support over the last 2,000 posts, and I look forward to working with all of you to keep making Mingtiandi China’s leading source of real estate intelligence.

For those of you into the scenery of America’s upper midwest, here are a few more shots of the places I’ll be visiting. (Please note, it doesn’t look like this in the winter).

This is as close as we get to a mall, where I come from

The sunrise doesn’t look like this every day in Marquette, MIchigan. But once in a while is just fine.
