China Real Estate People in the News 2015-01-26

The new year sees a flurry of new opportunities for real estate investment professionals in Hong Kong and Shanghai with a retail investment veteran joining Lend Lease, a long-term research expert finding a new corporate home with an Aussie financial giant and much more. Read on for details.

kok eng limKok Eng Lim has joined Lend Lease China as Investment Director with the Australian real estate company’s China operation. Based in Shanghai, the former General Manager with CapitaMalls Asia takes on his new role after six years with the Singaporean retail developer which was taken private by its parent, CapitaLand, last year. In his most recent prior role Lim headed CapitaMalls investment team in East China.

erwin sanftErwin Sanft has moved to Australia’s Macquarie Group to become Head of China Strategy for the financial services company. The University of Auckland graduate will continue to be based in Hong Kong for his new role, after spending more than 18 years in the city progressing through a variety of financial research roles. Sanft has experience with CLSA, BNP Paribas and Standard Chartered, where he served as Head of China & HK Equities Research before taking on his latest challenge.

carmen hoCarmen Ho has signed up with Gaw Capital as an asset manager with the family run real estate investment firm. Ho comes to the Hong Kong-based company from Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts where she spent three years as an Assistant Leasing Manager. The University of Warwick graduate also holds a master’s in global finance from NYU and spent four years as a retail consultant with JLL in Hong Kong before joining Shangri-La.

ben tseBen Tse has joined the investment team at Arch Capital in Hong Kong after spending 20 months as an Associate with Harvest Capital Partners in the city. Tse, who specialises in deal sourcing, structuring, due diligence, financial modelling and valuation, spent two years at mainland bank ICBC International prior to joining Harvest and also served earlier stints with Roadking Properties and CBRE.

fan xiaopengFan Xiaopeng is now part of the team with private equity real estate investment firm Palm Capital in Hong Kong, where he serves as a Deputy Director. At Palm Fan now leads investment activities for the company’s Eco Town projects including project sourcing, feasibility studies and due diligence. The graduate of China University of Geosciences and Hong Kong Polytechnic previously worked as a Senior Trust Manager with Zhongrong International Trust in Shenzhen and also had prior experience with DTZ and Aeon.

chloe chenChloe Choi has joined Swire Properties in Hong Kong as a Senior Sales Officer with the property developer. Choi takes on her new responsibilities with Swire after serving as a senior analyst with Knight Frank for more than two years, most recently as a senior analyst with the property services provider. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology graduate completed her master’s degree in real estate at Hong Kong University last year.
