China Real Estate People in the News 2014-11-17

2014/11/17 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

This week we see Chinese real estate investors reaching to NYC for talent, a former Pramerica SVP join a new shop, and a high-ranking Mapletree investor head out on his own. With notably fewer role changes this week, is it possible that China’s real estate community may already be shifting gears for the holidays? Read on for more details.

Joyce Lo Palmer CapitalJoyce Lo has joined Palmer Capital Asia as a Director with the real estate investment management firm. In her new role, the former Pramerica Real Estate Investors executive will be responsible for business development across Asia, including investments and capital raising. In Asia, Palmer Capital is pursuing high return strategies with a focus on Hong Kong, Japan and Australia, as well as China-outbound.

Jeff Dvorett KuafuJeffrey Dvorett, has joined Kuafu Properties LLC as head of development, after previously leading the construction of the One57 project in Manhattan, which became a magnet for wealthy Chinese. The former vice president with Extell Development will presumably be helping one-year-old Kuafu to develop a planned 47-storey tower in New York as well as an additional site that company has acquired. Kuafu was formed in 2013 “with the vision of being the ultimate bridge between Chinese investors and the United States real estate market” according to Dvorett, and is actively seeking further projects.

George GohGeorge Goh, former Head of Investment for Southeast Asia at Mapletree, has left the Singaporean real estate investment firm to pursue his own projects. The Nanyang Technological University graduate spent just over a year with Mapletree after previously spending more than eight years as National Director for Acquisitions with LaSalle Investment Management in Singapore. Goh also has prior experience with Singaporean developer United Overseas Land.

Huajie (Jack) Wang has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Manager with DTZ in Shanghai. Wang will be taking on additional responsibility within the real estate service provider’s valuation department after joining as a valuer 10 months ago. Prior to catching on with DTZ, the Fudan University graduate spent a year with Cushman & Wakefield and a year with Knight Frank in Shanghai, all within the valuation field.

As usual, if you know of other China real estate professionals changing their jobs, getting promoted or just doing something exciting, please feel free to share with the rest of the community here at Mingtiandi.
