China Real Estate People in the News 2014-10-27

This week Asia’s real estate community sees a Lehman veteran take the helm for a US private equity investor’s property deals, a noted economist moving into his new office, Li Ka-shing stocking up on fresh talent, and much more. Read on for details.

Mark Newman Lone StarMark H Newman has joined Lone Star Funds as head of the US private equity firm’s real estate investment division for Asia. The former Global Co-Head and Chief Investment Officer for Lehman Brothers real estate private equity business has most recently been running independent investment manager Broadcliff Capital Partners and was based in London. Lone Star’s sole office in Asia is in Tokyo.

Zhiwei Zhang Deutsche BankZhiwei Zhang has officially taken up his new role as Managing Director, Chief Economist & Head of Equity Strategy for China at Deutsche Bank. Zhang comes to the German financial giant from Nomura Securities, where he had served as Chief China Economist for the last three years. At Deutsche Bank, the Zhang will be filling the shoes of his fellow IMF alum, Ma Jun who left in July to become chief economist with the People’s Bank of China.

Yin Shen is now an Assistant Asset Manager with Li Ka-shing’s ARA Private Funds, based in Shanghai. In her new role with the private fund management firm, Shen will focus on retail real estate investments, leveraging her previous experience as a retail leasing executive and analyst with Forterra Trust in Shanghai where she served for more than two years. The University of Copenhagen graduate also spent time with real estate consultancy Savills in Shanghai.

Jaime Leung PamfleetJaime Leung has joined Pamfleet group as a Senior Investment Analyst with Asian real estate investment advisory firm. Leung will be based in Pamfleet’s Hong Kong office after spending more five years with Savills, most recently as a Manager with the real estate advisory firm’s Commercial Investment team. Leung has a Master’s degree in real estate from the University of Hong Kong, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia.

Pairy Pan U-TownPairy Pang has joined U-Town Shopping Center in Beijing as Promotion Planning Manager at the fashionable mall in Chaoyang district. Pang takes on her new responsibilities managing U-Town’s promotions after more than two years as a Marketing Officer with Swire Properties in Beijing, where she managed events and marketing at the Hong Kong developer’s Taikoo Li project. The Beijing University of International Finance and economics graduate also has previous experience with T&C Asset Management Consulting as a Marketing Officer.

Gary Leung RegusGary Leung is now a General Manager with serviced office provider Regus in Hong Kong. Leung takes on his new responsibilities with Regus after more than three years with competitor, The Executive Centre where he most recently served as a Manager for business development. The California State Polytechnic University-Pomona graduate came to the serviced office industry in 2011 after building four years experience with hotels in Hong Kong and Macau.
