Alek Misev, Head of Property, Aware Super

Alek commenced with Aware Super in January 2015 and has over 20 years’ experience in finance and investment management. In his role as Head of Property he is overseeing Aware Super’s property strategy and team locally and globally. Alek also sits on Aware Real Estate Management in Sydney and is a former Board member of Oak Tree Group in Brisbane, Bankstown and Camden Airports in Sydney, City ID in Amsterdam and Vivenio in Madrid.

Prior to Aware Super, Alek was with Willis Towers Watson in Sydney and London in the role of Head of Australian Real Estate and Senior Investment Consultant for Private Markets. In this role he was responsible for developing and implementing innovative local and global solutions in real estate for clients in Australia. Prior to Willis Towers Watson, Alek was a member of the real estate team at APG Asset Management in Amsterdam focused on investments in unlisted real estate funds, joint ventures and private operating companies.

Earlier in his career Alek also worked for Heineken N.V., and a boutique trading company, Vesta Intracon B.V. Alek is fluent in Dutch, English and Macedonian and holds two Masters degrees from Western Sydney University (majoring in Business and Applied Finance), and also holds a Batchelor’s Degree in Commercial Economics from the University of Amsterdam (Hogeschool van Amsterdam).
