Apple’s 11th China Store May Be on the Way in Wuxi

China’s love affair with Apple products may be gearing up for expansion into the country’s second tier cities. At least if the company’s recruitment ads are any indication.

According to a report in the China Daily today, Apple is advertising for new staff in Wuxi, a prosperous city in eastern China’s Jiangsu province.

Apple currently has 10 stores in China, but the Wuxi outlet would be the first one outside of Shanghai and Beijing. In previous statements by the company, Apple has said it plans to open two retail stores in Chongqing in southwestern China.

A city of six million people, Wuxi already made its place on China’s retail map in 2012 when it became home to the country’s second-largest IKEA store. The city’s per capita GDP surpassed US$20,000 in 2013, according to the local government.

Earlier this year, Apple opened a store at the China Central Mall in the Chaoyang District of Beijing, and a shop at Shanghai’s IAPM mall opened late last year.
