China’s most indebted developer gets some new leadership this week as China Evergrande leads our collection of job changes with a reshuffle of the top ranks of its real estate business. Also finding a new corporate home is top investment broker from Savills, and a Singaporean boutique consultancy establishes a London presence.
China Evergrande Group announced on 14 October that Zhen Litao will no longer serve as president of Evergrande Real Estate Group, and will be replaced by long-time company executive Ke Peng. The company indicated that the change in role for Zhen will not adversely affect the company’s operations or solvency. Zhen had taken over the president role from Shi Shouming in May 2019.
Long-time Savills investment broker Jonathan Chau has picked up a new set of namecards and joined the team at CBRE as head of investment property and private office, according to an update to his LinkedIn profile. Chau has joined the green team after more than 14 years at Savills, where he served most recently as deputy managing director. The graduate of Canada’s Simon Fraser University will be working alongside CBRE’s executive director and head of capital markets for Hong Kong, Reeves Yan, who joined the firm from Colliers last year.
Sakal Real Estate Partners last week introduced Christopher McCormick as executive director head of capital markets for the UK with the Singapore-based investment consultancy. Formerly employed for more than five years as European investment director with Gaw Capital Partners in London, McCormick has since May of 2019 run the show at McCormick+Cown Capital. In his new role, McCormick will head up Sakal’s London office.
Julien Naouri has joined the investment sales team at JLL’s Hotels and Hospitality Group in Singapore this month after more than eight years as director of investment sales and acquisitions with Savills in the city. Naouri, who also has prior experience with CBRE Hotels in Paris and Singapore, specialises in hotel investment advisory and has worked on projects in Japan, Southeast Asia and other locations in the region.
James Murphy has joined Space DC in Singapore as sales director with the GIC-backed data centre developer and operator, according to an announcement by the company on social media. Murphy joins the company formerly known as Polymer Connected from CloserStill Media, where he had worked as a sales and events director with the producer of Cloud Expo Asia, Data Centre World and other industry gatherings for more than five years.
Tiger Zhao has joined Beijing-based data centre operator and developer Chayora this month as director of operations, according to an announcement by the company. Zhao joins the Actis-invested bit-barn specialist from Amazon Web Services where he had served for nearly five years, specialising in data centre development and scaling. The graduate of Chongqing Industrial College also has previous experience with Microsoft and Siemens in China.
