Sean Sun Leads West China, Tammy Tang Now China Co-Head in Colliers Reshuffle

Global brokerage Colliers International is reshuffling its leadership team in China, naming an industrial and consulting veteran as head of West China while revealing that another top executive is now co-head of the company’s China business.

Colliers has appointed Sean Sun to lead its West China business, based in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province. In his new role as Deputy Managing Director West China, effective this month, Sun will focus on growing the company’s capabilities and strengthening services for domestic and international clients through its offices in Chengdu and Xi’an, the capital of neighbouring Shaanxi province.

Sun reports to Tammy Tang, who is now Co-Head of China and Head of Industrial Services China at the NASDAQ-listed agency. Tang, who is based in Shanghai, was made Acting Head of East China following the departure of Lina Wong, Senior Managing Director for East China in January.

Tang still retains her role as acting head of the East China business, while Asia Pacific CEO David Hand serves alongside Tang as the other Co-Head of China, a representative of Colliers informed Mingtiandi.

Industrial Leader To Oversee West China

Sun takes the new role in West China after serving as Head of Industrial for North China, based in Beijing since late 2014. The holder of an MBA from Western Washington University in the US brings over 20 years of experience across China and North America to the new role. Prior to joining Colliers, Sun worked as Director at rival agency JLL, heading up the industrial team in Tianjin for over seven years.

“Sean is a consummate business leader having managed services including leasing, selling, consultancy and investment,” Tang commented in a statement. “His new appointment highlights Colliers’ ongoing commitment to strengthening our geographic leadership and providing a best-in-class real estate solutions platform for domestic and international clients in our rapidly growing West China region.”

Agency Upgrades Mainland China Team

Based in Shanghai, Tang has headed up the Industrial Services division for China since June 2014, where she has focussed on building a new advisory team. Last May, the veteran deal-maker and consultant was tapped to head the West China business in addition to her responsibilities overseeing the manufacturing, business park and logistics sectors.

Just last week, the company named its managing director for North China, Li Jie, as Head of Valuations & Advisory Services (CIVAS) China, a new national business platform providing advisory services for domestic firms and multinationals operating in the country.
