Asia Real Estate People in the News 2024-09-09

A resignation from a troubled mainland developer leads this week’s collection of personnel moves from around the region, with Shimao Holdings losing an executive director. There’s also a board move at the manager of Frasers Hospitality Trust in Singapore and some former Logos executives appearing with new name cards.

Tang Fei ShimaoMainland developer Shimao Group Holdings announced to the Hong Kong stock exchange on 2 September that Tang Fei resigned from her role as an executive director with the company with effect from a day earlier. Tang is departing after 11 years on the board of the developer due to her nearing retirement age, with the company naming Zhao Jun as an executive director in the same statement.

Soong Hee Sang

Frasers Hospitality Trust informed the Singapore exchange recently that Soong Hee Sang has stepped down from his role as lead independent director of the REIT’s manager, with the non-executive board member departing from 1 December. Soong, formerly a top executive with GIC Real Estate and Capitaland, is said to be departing for personal reasons, and had been in his current role with the trust manager since May of last year.

Aaron Murray LogosAaron Murray is now chief investment officer with Logos Asia in Japan, following the spin-off of that entity from ESR, according to an entry on his LinkedIn page. Before taking on his new role, Murray had spent more than two years as group head for strategic initiatives and Japan with Logos, under the ESR umbrella. In all, Murray spent nearly eight years at Logos Group in Japan, Singapore and Sydney.

Joanne Lee Sor Phaik ProspekKuala Lumpur-listed Kerjaya Prospek Property Bhd announced on 5 September that its chief executive officer, Joanne Lee Sor Phaik, had resigned from her role after just over a year leading the property developer. Now 54, the former Tropican Corp executive is said to have resigned for personal reasons after having been appointed on 13 July 2023. Kerjaya Prospek made no comment regarding a successor for the senior role.

Cora Tran HinesCora Tran has been promoted to managing director with Hines in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update. Tran is taking a step up after four years with the company as a senior director with its fund management division. Prior to joining Hines in 2020, Tran spent more than two years as a vice president with GLP in the city-state, and also served with Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing in New York and Singapore.

John Kim LogosJohn Kim is joining the team at Logos Asia as head of funds based in Singapore, per a LinkedIn update. Like his colleague, Aaron Murray, Kim took on his new employment after being part of the team at Logos Group, where he spent three years as a fund manager in the city-state. The graduate of IMI International Management Institute Switzerland also has experience with Far East Orchard and Frasers Property.

Terence Zhang China ResourcesTerence Zhang has joining China Resources Longdation in Hong Kong as a senior manager with the company’s investment and asset management team. In his new role Zhang covers private equity acquisition opportunities, focusing on retail properties in Hong Kong, according to his LinkedIn profile. Before joining the property investment division of China Resources Holdings, Zhang served with Guotai Junan International and CIFI Group in Hong Kong.

Mark JLL KoreaMark Hyoungjun Hahm has joined JLL in Seoul as a manager with the company hotel and hospitality team for Korea, according to a LinkedIn update. The graduate of the Glion Institute of Higher Education took on his role with the property consultancy this month after two and a half years with Mirae Asset Global Investments in Seoul, where he had worked most recently as a senior manager.
