A change in leadership for a $2 billion Tokyo-listed REIT leads today’s list of personnel moves from around Asia as Japan Excellent REIT selects a new executive director. Also making the list today is a new CFO for PAG’s regional data centre platform and a Singapore investment manager selects a new head of real estate.
Japan Excellent REIT announced to the Tokyo stock exchange on 18 August that Kazuhiro Ono (pictured) will cease to act as its executive director from 31 October, with the manager of the listed trust proposing to appoint Masahiro Sato to fulfill the top leadership role from 1 November. Sponsored by Nippon Steel Kowa Real Estate, Dai-Ichi Life, Mizuho Bank and Mizuho Trust and Banking, Japan Excellent REIT holds 33 properties valued at JPY 293 billion ($2 billion) as of 15 April.
A data centre platform backed by PAG continues to rework its leadership team with Flow Digital Infrastructure announcing Alok Garodia’s appointment as chief financial officer on 20 August, with immediate effect. Garodia previously served as CFO of venture capital fund Prime Venture Partners and also has previous experience with Nokia, Nike and Lenovo. Flow had named Sanjay Goel as chief executive officer in April this year and announced the departure of founder and chairman Kris Kumar in June.
Kok Eng Lim has joined Sun Venture in Singapore as head of real estate with the local investment manager and family office, according to a LinkedIn update. Lim joins Sun Venture after more than three years as head of investment and asset management with developer Allgreen Properties Ltd, where he held the rank of senior general manager. Lim also has previous experience with Lendlease and CapitaLand.
Schroders announced on 21 August that it has appointed Marita McGinley as head of operations for Asia Pacific, in addition to her current role as head of the UK investment manager’s digital assets strategy globally. Based in Singapore, McGinley is being given her additional duties as Schroders works to develop a global operating platform designed to integrate artificial intelligence, distributed ledger technology and data, the company said.
The trustee of Singapore-listed Sabana Industrial REIT said on 22 August that the trust’s board is expected to appoint Karen Lee Kiah Ling (pictured) as chief executive officer of the REIT’s recently internalised manager. Lee formerly served as deputy CEO of the manager of ESR Logos REIT and will be joined in the leadership suite at Sabana by Goo Li Ling, who is expected to be appointed chief financial officer after previously serving as managing director for finance with the real estate fund division of Keppel Fund Management.
CalSTRS announced on 21 August that it has appointed Kirsty Jenkinson as senior investment director for private markets and of the pension fund’s sustainable investment and stewardship strategies division (SISS). Jenkinson joined the California State Teachers’ Retirement System in 2019 as director of SISS and launched the multi-asset class SISS Private Portfolio with a mandate to invest opportunistically in climate solutions across a wide risk-return spectrum, from venture capital to infrastructure during her tenure.
Jeffrey Tay has taken on the expanded title of chief development and marketing officers with Singapore-based Galaxy Data Center, according to a LinkedIn update. Tay received the upgrade recently after joining Galaxy in April as chief development officer, with the Singapore Polytechnic graduate also a member of the Singapore company’s board of directors. Galaxy earlier this month announced a plan to invest $2 billion building data centres in Thailand focused on the eastern seaboard province of Rayong.
Bjoern Beck said on LinkedIn this past week that he has left his role as executive director and portfolio manager for Asia Pacific with UBS in Singapore after just under a year and a half with the firm. Beck has yet to provide details on his next engagement after having joined UBS following its takeover of Credit Suisse. Beck had spent more than 12 years with Credit Suisse in Zurich and Singapore managing the institution’s properties.
Colliers announced on 18 August that it has hired Chris Archibold as managing director for office services for Southeast Asia, based in Singapore, as the property consultancy looks to expand its office leasing advisory business in the region. Before joining Colliers, Archibold had spent more than 21 years with JLL in Singapore where he had served as country head for the past four years and also has previous experience with Chestertons.
