A new senior leader in Malaysia leads Mingtiandi’s review of personnel changes in Asia Pacific’s real estate community this week with the country’s PNB naming a new head of global real estate. Also making the list is a promotion at Singapore’s Ho Bee Land and SC Capital Partners choosing a chief for its Gulf expansion.
Farhah Anor has been promoted to head of global real estate investments at Malaysia’s Permodalan Nasional Berhad, according to a LinkedIn update. The 12-year veteran of Malaysia’s $89 billion sovereign wealth fund took a step up this past month after more than a year overseeing PNB’s European real estate portfolio and also has previous experience as head of the fund’s Southeast Asian real estate investments.
Li Xiangrun has been promoted to chief financial officer at Ho Bee Land in Singapore, with effect from 1 February, according to a statement last week by the SGX-listed developer. Now 43, Li has taken on his new role after serving as head of finance and company secretary at Ho Bee Land since 2023. Prior to joining the company controlled by Singaporean tycoon Chua Thian Poh, Li had spent nine years in real estate investment banking at BNP Paribas, and also has previous experience with Standard Chartered and UBS.
SC Capital Partners announced on 23 January that it has appointed Yazan Masri to lead its Persian Gulf business as managing director for investments for the Middle East. The Singapore-based private equity firm announced Masri’s hire at the same time that it celebrated breaking ground on an industrial park in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), United Arab Emirates as the first development under its SC GCC Real Estate Industrial Development Fund. Masri had served with Abu Dhabi Capital Group and Al Futtaim Group Real Estate before joining SC Capital.
After more than three years leading Swire Properties USA, Henry Bott is leaving his role as president of the North American business of Hong Kong-listed Swire Properties to head back to his native London, according to an announcement this past week. A more than 15-year Swire veteran, Bott will be staying in the US through March, with Dave Martin, currently a senior vice president overseeing asset management, leasing and other functions set to take over the president role on 16 March.
After entering the Australian market last year, Weave Living has expanded its team in Sydney, bringing on Greystar executives William Tait (pictured) and Brad Newell, as well as Gurner Qualitas manager Lachlan Menhinnitt and vice president for projects Simon Quan. In a statement, Weave founder Sachin Doshi said he looks forward to building the company’s Australia team as the market becomes a pillar of its business.
Cushman & Wakefield said on 29 January that it has hired Andrew Green as head of its data centre group for Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong, as it expands its services to the burgeoning sector. Green joins the property consultancy after five years at rival JLL, where he had served most recently as regional data centre practice lead for Asia Pacific after first joining the company in 2020 as senior director for integrated digital solutions with its project and development services division.
Seb Turnbull has joined Savills as executive director for capital markets in Australia and head of capital markets for the company’s Queensland business, according to a LinkedIn update. Based in Brisbane, the Queensland University of Technology graduate had his photo taken against a yellow background this past month after 21 years at JLL, where he had served as head of capital markets for Queensland.
Daniel Ding has joined Singapore investment management firm ICH Group as partner and managing director for real estate, according to a LinkedIn update. Having worked as managing director at Knight Frank in Singapore through the end of 2024, after first joining the consultancy in 2020, Ding is joining the investment firm led by tech entrepreneur and investor Danny Toe, after ICH in 2023 acquired 39 Robinson Road in Singapore.
