A top level government move leads this week’s collection of personnel moves from around Asia’s real estate industry as Hong Kong appoints a new boss for its securities regulator. Also making the lists is an update from CPPIB and a senior CapitaLand hire in India.
The government of Hong Kong announced on 14 October that its chief executive, John Lee, has appointed Dr Kelvin Wong Tin-yau as chairman of the city’s Securities and Futures Commission for a term of three years from 20 October. Currently chairman of Hong Kong’s Accounting and Financial Reporting Council, Wong was a non-executive director of the SFC, which regulates financial trading in Hong Kong, from 2012 through 2018. He also served on the listing committee of the Hong Kong exchange from 2007 through 2013.
Hari Krishna V has relocated to New York with the Canadian Public Pension Investment Board (CPPIB) according to a LinkedIn update. Hari continues to serve as a managing director with the Canadian pension fund giant’s real estate team and has now been with the organisation since 2015. From 2020 through 2024 Hari served as a managing director with CPPIB in the organisation’s Mumbai office.
Ruchita Maniar has joined Ascendas Firstspace in Mumbai, according to a LinkedIn update. Maniar has joined the CapitaLand industrial platform to grow its more than $500 million in holdings after spending two and half years as an executive director with Goldman Sachs. At Goldman Sachs, Maniar has focused on investments and asset management in Asia Pacific, excluding Japan after spending just under three years with KKR in India.
Nicholas Toh has signed up as general manager for Asia with Edgnex Data Centers in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update. Toh takes on his role with the unit of Dubai-based developer DAMAC after less than two years as group chief executive officer with Brookfield’s DCI Data Centers unit in the city-state. Earlier, the University of Queensland graduate had spent more than eight years with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres in Singapore.
ESR announced on 16 October that Jingsheng Liu has resigned from her position as an independent, non-executive director with the company for health reasons, with the move taking effect from that day. A former senior executive with Beijing-based investment bank CICC, Liu had been a member of the company’s board since 2019. ESR said that it is in the process of identifying a replacement for Liu.
Empyrion Digital announced this past week that it has appointed Ng Shanshan as director of asset and portfolio management with immediate effect. Based in Singapore, Ng joins the digital infrastructure platform of local private equity shop Seraya Partners after more than two years with competitor Bridge Data Centres, where she had served as associate director for asset management for Asia Pacific.
Elizabeth Low has been promoted to group digital and CRM manager with ESR in Singapore this month, according to a LinkedIn update. Low takes her step up after two and half years as a senior analyst with the developer and fund manager’s customer solutions and partnerships division. The National University of Singapore graduate also has previous experience with CBRE and JLL.
Colliers announced this past week that James Wong has joined the company’s capital markets and investment services team as a senior director based in Hong Kong. Wong specialise in advising on redevelopment sites and luxury development projects and will report to division head Thomas Chak. Prior to signing up with Colliers, Wong served more than four years with JLL in Hong Kong and also has previous experience with Savills.
