Asia Real Estate People in the News 2021-09-13

Senior appointments in the property consulting and data centre worlds lead Mingtiandi’s list of human resources updates this week, including a member of JLL’s Asia Pacific team taking on a top global role and CapitaLand adding some sales firepower for its India data centre team.

There are also new namecards being handed out at Jardine Matheson’s retail division in Hong Kong and Colliers International has hired a new head of operations and finance for China.

George Thomas JLLJLL has promoted its head of information operations in Asia Pacific to global chief information officer, according to an update from the property consultancy. George Thomas, who had served as Asia Pacific CIO until being named to the global role on a temporary basis in April, took on the top information position permanently last month, and continues to be based in Singapore. A six-year company veteran, Thomas is part of the JLL Technologies Executive Leadership Team which seeks to integrate tech advisory with the firm’s real estate expertise.

Graeme Torre APGChindata Group Holdings, a mainland China-based data centre platform listed on the NASDAQ exchange, announced last week that APG Asset Management managing director Graeme Torre had resigned from the Bain Capital-backed firm’s board for personal reasons. Chindata listed on the NASDAQ last year and APG purchased a 20 percent stake in Hong Kong-based data centre operator OneAsia earlier this year.

Gary Leung has been promoted to head of property, group assets and estate at DFI Retail Group in Hong Kong, according to a LinkedIn update. Leung takes his step up after two years as group property assets and estate manager with the division of Jardine Matheson just a few weeks after the owner of the Wellcome, Mannings and other retail chains in Hong Kong changed its name from Dairy Farm Group.

david yang colliersColliers International has hired David Yu Yang as deputy managing director with its China division, where he will serve as head of operations and finance, according to a company announcement. Yang joined the property consulting firm this month after just over a year as chief financial officer for the customer experience division of advertising agency Dentsu China. Earlier the graduate of Shanghai International Studies University had spent more than seven years with customer experience consulting firm Merkle before that US-based agency was acquired by Dentsu last year.

prasad tilve CapitaLandCapitaLand announced late last week that Prasad Tilve has joined its India data centre team as head of business development and strategy after a decade with Japanese telecom provider NTT in the country. Tilve most recently served as assistant vice president for strategic partnerships and government vertical business development at NTT, and now has more than 25 years in technology and network sales.

richard bostock turner townsendRichard Bostock has signed up with project management firm Turner & Townsend in Hong Kong as programme director, according to a LinkedIn update. Bostock joins the UK-based consultancy after earlier serving as a regional director with project management firm Faithful and Gould for nearly two years. The 25-year Asia veteran also has experience in senior positions with Arcadis and Jones Lang LaSalle.

Amy Lee Sino HotelsAmy Lee has taken on the role of deputy general manager for hotel marketing and projects at Sino Hotels in Hong Kong, according to a LinkedIn update. Lee started into her new duties last month after more than two years running independent consultancy Stuart Hospitality in Kenya. Earlier Lee has served as assistant senior vice president for retail marketing at Galaxy Entertainment Group in Macau after holding management positions at Miramar Group and Swire Properties.
