A top level departure at a Singapore private equity firm leads this week’s review of personnel moves from around Asia as one of the partners from SC Capital Partners heads for the beach. Also making the list this week is a senior addition to the Mapletree team in Singapore and the departure of a board director at a CapitaLand-sponsored REIT.
Ian Lien, a partner and managing director at SC Capital Partners announced this past week that he is stepping down from his roles with the Singapore-based private equity firm after 18 years with the company. Lien announced his departure from SC Capital five months after CapitaLand Investment closed on its purchase of a 40 percent stake in the company, with the state-backed giant on track to take full ownership of the company by 2030. A hotel investment specialist, Lien served with Westin Hotels and Resorts and Starwood Hotels and Resorts earlier in his career.
Young Lim has joined Singapore’s Mapletree Investments in Singapore as chief executive of its private capital management division, according to a LinkedIn update. Lim signed up with the real estate investment unit of Temasek Holdings after more than 14 years with Hines, where he served most recently as senior managing director and head of Asia with the developer and fund manager’s private wealth solutions business.
CapitaLand Ascott Trust informed the Singapore stock exchange on 29 August that Michael Sim Juat Quee has resigned from his role as a non-executive, independent director on its board, with effect from 31 August. Now 70, Lim is a former Ernst & Young partner who has served as chairman of the SGX-listed REIT’s audit and risk committee and is retiring from the board after first joining the decision-making body in 2016.
Singapore-listed Starhill Global REIT notified the SGX on 29 August that it has appointed Kelvin Chow Chung Yip as lead independent director on its board, with the former chief executive of the manager of Lendlease Global Commercial REIT serving in a non-executive capacity from that date. Now 53, Chow replaces Tan Bong Lin, who stepped down after nearly eight years on the board.
Su Anne Mi has taken on the joint roles of chief executive officer of The Great Room and managing director for Asia Pacific with its parent group, Industrious, according to a LinkedIn update. Mi took over the top spot with the serviced office provider after fellow co-founder Jaelle Ang recently left her executive roles with the company with Mi having previously served as chief operating officer for APAC at the Great Room.
Roy Ding has been promoted to deputy general manager with Shui On Xintiandi in Shanghai, according to a LinkedIn update. Ding was promoted from assistant general manager for project management after more than four years with the commercial property unit of Hong Kong-listed developer Shui On Land and has previous experience with Shui On, Lendlease and Ping An in Shanghai.
William Su has joined Hutchison Property Group in Hong Kong as an assistant general manager, according to a LinkedIn update. Su returned to the division of Li Ka-shing’s CK Asset Group recently after more than eight years with rival Wharf China Estates in Hong Kong, having previously spent more than eight years with Hutchison Property as a marketing manager covering office leasing for projects in Hong Kong and across mainland China.
Knight Frank recently announced that it has hired Vivian Liao as head of global corporate solutions for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. Liao now leads the property consultancy’s interface with corporate clients across the region after more than two years with CBRE in Singapore, where she served most recently as as director for transaction management looking after an industrial portfolio for a semiconductor company.
