A pair of Hong Kong appointments leads this week’s collection of personnel moves from around Asia’s real estate industry with an industrial kingpin joining the board of one of Hong Kong’s biggest commercial developers and the head of an HKEX-listed developer joining the local board of Singapore’s biggest bank.

Ming MeiHongkong Land Holdings announced to the London stock exchange on 10 October that GLP co-founder and chief executive Ming Z Mei has joined its board of directors from that date. Mei now holds an independent, non-executive director position on the developer’s board, with Hongkong Land having invested in its first logistics project in 2022 through a joint venture with Logos Property (now part of ESR) in Indonesia.

DBS announced on 7 October that Kuok Khoon Hua, chairman and chief executive officer of Kerry Properties Ltd and son of Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok, joined the board of its Hong Kong business from that same date. Kuok was named chairman of Kerry Properties in 2022 after taking on the chief executive role in 2019, when he was also named vice chairman of the developer. The executive also serves on the boards of Kerry Logistics Network Ltd and Wilmar International Ltd.

MTR chief executive Jacob KamHong Kong’s MTR Corporation said on 8 October that its chief executive officer, Jacob Kam Chak-pui has been re-appointed for a new term from 1 April 2025 through the end of next year. Kam, who was originally appointed to a three-year term in April 2022, will be extending his employment while the MTR, which operates Hong Kong’s subway system, conducts a global search for replacement chief executive.

Masahiko_Inoue_-_EdgeConneXEQT-backed data centre operator and investor EdgeConnex said on 8 October that it has appointed Masahiko Inoue as its head of Japan. Inoue joins EdgeConnex after serving for three years as managing director and project development director for Japan with alternatives platform Aquila Clean Energy. The graduate of Japan’s Seikei University also has experience as a development director with Macquarie Capital Securities in Tokyo.

Menes Chee BlackstoneBlackstone senior managing director Menes Chee has left the fund management giant after 15 years, according to reporting by Bloomberg this past week. The Hong Kong-based executive had co-founded Blackstone’s tactical opportunities team and was one of the longest serving partners at the firm. In his role Chee had been responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments in private opportunities and capital markets.

Milind-Kulkarni MahindraIndia’s Mahindra Lifespaces announced on 11 October that the company’s shareholders have approved the appointment of Milind Kulkarni as a non-executive, non-independent director on the developer’s board. Kulkarni previously served as chief financial officer of Mahindra Lifespaces’ sister company Tech Mahindra, where he spent more than 20 years, including serving as a senior advisor to the company from May 2022 through February of this year.

YC Lam PrimasiaYC Lam has taken on the role of managing director with Hong Kong single-family office Primasia Capital, according to a LinkedIn update. Lam took on his new role this month after nine years with Cindat Capital Management in Hong Kong where he served as an associate director. Lam has also served as a director with Primasia Foundation, a Hong Kong-based charitable organisation focused on education initiatives.

Travis-Huggins Knight FRankKnight Frank announced on 7 October that it has appointed Dr Travis Huggins as chief operating officer for Greater China with effect from that same day. Based in Hong Kong, Huggins will oversee the property consultancy’s finance, human resources, IT and administrative teams for Greater China while also joining Knight Frank’s Greater China Executive Board. Prior to taking on this latest role Huggins served as Asia finance director for City Facilities Management (HKG) Limited.
