A new generation of leadership has taken over at a Hong Kong developer, with that story leading this week’s review of personnel moves from around the region. Also making the list is a promotion at a Japanese investment manager and a top-level departure at HSBC’s asset management division.

Francis-Lui K WahFrancis Lui Yiu Tung has been appointed chairman of Hong Kong-listed developer K Wah International, succeeding his late father Lui Che-woo, according to an announcement to the stock exchange on 27 March. Francis’ siblings, Paddy Tang Lui Wai Yu and Alexander Lui Yiu Wah have been appointed as co-managing directors of K Wah, with K Wah founder Lui Che-woo having passed away last year.

Hiraku TeramotoHikarui Teramoto has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Japanese fund manager Kenedix, according to a LinkedIn announcement. Teramoto took his step up this month after serving as senior executive officer and chief financial officer of the unit of Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing since March of last year. Earlier, the University of Michigan graduate had served as president and CEO of Kenedix Real Estate Fund Management.

Victoria SharpeVictoria Sharpe has left her position as head of real assets with HSBC Asset Management, according to records seen by Mingtiandi, with the shift coming just over one year after the company completed its buyout of regional fund manager SilkRoad Property Partners. Sharpe had joined HSBC in 2021 to lead the real estate element of its then fledgling alternatives unit, before being upgraded to head of real assets in 2022.

John Liu HSBCJohn Liu has been promoted to managing principal and head of research and strategy with the Asia Pacific real estate team at HSBC Asset Management, according to a LinkedIn update. Liu received his upgrade this month after just over a year as principal with the firm. Earlier, the National University of Singapore graduate had worked as director of research with SilkRoad Property Partners before its acquisition by HSBC AM.

Steve Finch ManulifeManulife said earlier this month that it has appointed Steve Finch as president and chief executive of Manulife Asia with effect from 9 May. Finch will take over the top spot on the continent for the Canadian insurer from Phil Witherington, who will be moving into Manulife’s president and CEO roles from the same date. Finch currently serves as Manulife’s chief actuary and previously served as chief financial officer of its John Hancock business in the US.

kevin Zhou GuocolandGuocoLand announced to the Singapore stock exchange on 24 March that it was appointing former Keppel Ltd executive Kevin Zhou Yun Peng as managing director of GuocoLand China with effect from the following day. Now 41, Zhou had served as executive vice president for business development with Keppel’s China real estate division until this month. The appointment fills a gap created by the resignation earlier this month of Peter Lee Wai Mun.

Tomoo Suzuki HeitmanTomoo Suzuki has been promoted to senior vice president with Heitman in Japan, according to a recent LinkedIn update. Based in Tokyo, Suzuki took on his new role this month after more than four years as vice president for acquisitions with the Chicago-based fund manager. The Yokohama National University graduate also has previous experience with local developers Hulic and Mori Trust.

Felicia ErhFelicia Erh has been promoted to associate director for fund management with M&G Real Estate in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update.
