APAC Real Estate People in the News 2026-03-09

Canada’s largest private landlord plants its flag in Seoul to lead this week’s look at personnel moves from across Asia Pacific’s real estate industry, with fresh hires and promotions across India, Australia and Hong Kong also making the list.

Tae Kyoung Gong - Starlight InvestmentsStarlight Investments has expanded into South Korea with a new Seoul office and its first regional hire, according to an announcement from the Toronto-based multifamily and commercial real estate firm, which owns approximately 70,000 rental residential units across Canada and the United States. Leading the company’s Seoul presence is Tae Kyoung (TK) Gong, who takes up the position of vice president for global markets, Asia and the Pacific. Gong arrives from Mirae Asset Global Investments, where he spent nearly seven years as head of the overseas real estate investment team, and has earlier experience in investor relations at Hana Financial Investment and at financial advisory services at KPMG.

Darshan Vora BrookfieldBrookfield Asset Management has promoted Darshan Vora as senior vice president for capital markets in Mumbai, according to a LinkedIn update. Vora steps up after two years as vice president heading the capital markets and treasury function for Brookfield’s India operations, and brings additional experience from earlier roles at IL&FS Financial Services and ICICI Bank. He has spent nearly a decade at Brookfield across capital markets, portfolio management and real estate investment roles, and has overseen a debt book of approximately $7 billion for the firm’s infrastructure ventures in India and the Middle East.

Megan Jones - QICMegan Jones has taken up a fund manager position at QIC in Sydney, moving across from ESR Group where she spent three and a half years in the same capacity, according to a LinkedIn update. Jones brings earlier experience at Charter Hall, where she served as an investment manager, and at GPT Group and Lendlease, where she held corporate finance and financial analysis roles in both Sydney and London. QIC manages A$13 billion ($8 billion) in real estate assets across Australia.

James Osborne - Aware Real EstateJames Osborne steps into the head of asset management role at Sydney-based Aware Real Estate, according to a LinkedIn update. Osborne moves across from IFM Investors, the Melbourne-headquartered infrastructure and real estate fund manager owned by Australian superannuation funds, where he spent more than five years as a regional asset manager and senior investment manager covering New South Wales and Queensland. He also brings 13 years of experience at AMP Capital, where he managed a diversified direct real estate portfolio of approximately A$1.1 billion on behalf of an Australian superannuation fund client.

Jack Delaforce - QualitasQualitas has recruited Jack Delaforce as a director from BlackRock, where he spent four and a half years as a vice president focused on private markets and hedge funds capital formation and product strategy in Sydney, according to a LinkedIn update. The Australian alternative investment manager gains a hire with additional experience from GCI Asset Management in Hong Kong, where Delaforce spent two years in international investment solutions, and from JP Morgan, where he worked in cash equity sales and as an associate, also in Hong Kong, for more than four years.

Leo Yip - Weave LivingWeave Living has elevated Leo Yip to vice president for leasing, Hong Kong at the Warburg Pincus-backed residential operator, according to a LinkedIn update. Yip steps up after four years with Weave in progressively senior leasing roles, and brings earlier experience in hospitality and tourism sales from National Hotel Management Limited and Hong Kong Disneyland, as well as three years in meetings and exhibitions with the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

Matthew Lee - JLLJLL has promoted Matthew Lee to executive director and co-head of its Australian data centre business in Sydney, according to a LinkedIn update. Lee steps up after more than six years as national director for industrial and data centre occupier services at the firm, and brings additional experience from Knight Frank, where he led the New South Wales industrial business, and from CBRE, where he spent more than ten years across industrial leasing, sales and capital markets in Sydney. He also served five years as a board member of Women in Industrial, an industry body promoting diversity in the logistics and industrial sector.

Seb Turnbull SavillsSavills Australia & New Zealand has appointed Seb Turnbull as executive director for capital markets and head of capital markets for Queensland, with Kiran Pillai and Scott McGlone joining as national directors to lead the firm’s Victorian capital markets team, according to a recent announcement by the property consultancy. Turnbull brings more than 20 years of advisory experience to the role, having most recently served as head of capital markets for Queensland at JLL.
