A new boss for India’s oldest real estate investment trust leads today’s review of personnel moves from around Asia as Embassy Office Parks REIT reshuffles its management. Also making the list are senior level appointments at the operator of one of Singapore’s two casinos and a new head for the city-state’s land-use authority.
Embassy Office Parks REIT, which ranks as the largest office REIT in Asia by area, announced on 1 August that it has appointed Amit Shetty as its chief executive officer with effect from that date. After first joining Embassy REIT in 2021 from CBRE, Shetty has been serving as the Indian REIT’s chief operating officer. With Shetty’s ascension former CEO Ritwik Bhattacharjee now serves as a senior advisor to the REIT.
Genting Singapore informed the SGX on 1 August that it has appointed Lee Shi Ruh as president and chief operating officer with effect from that same day. Now 58, Lee has worked at Genting since 2010 and has been chief executive of the company’s Resorts World Sentosa subsidiary since June. In a separate announcement on the same day, Genting said Ang Suat Ching has been appointed chief financial officer of the company with immediate effect.
Singapore’s Ministry of Law announced on 28 July that it has appointed Loh Lik Peng as chairman of the Singapore Land Authority with effect from 1 August. Loh, the founder of restaurant group The Unlisted Collection, has been on the land authority board since 2017 and has been deputy chairman since 2020. Filmmaker Boo Junfeng was selected as a new addition to the board, with the land authority charged with supervising use of land in the city-state.
After 15 years helping to lead real estate investment manager KaiLong in mainland China and Hong Kong, Ivan Ho has gone out on his own, launching Leap Global Group Ltd, according to a LinkedIn update. Ho started the Hong Kong-registered firm after serving as chief executive of KaiLong’s Hong Kong unit since 2018. The graduate of Canada’s Simon Fraser University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong had served as a managing director with KaiLong since 2014 after earlier working as an executive director responsible for acquisitions.
Tim Alpe has returned to the world of mini-sheds, with Extra Space Asia Self Storage announcing this past week that the veteran real estate executive has signed on as the company’s chief executive. Alpe joins the CapitaLand and APG-controlled storage company from hospitality investment firm Ovolo Capital, where he spent just over two years as a managing director. Relocating from Hong Kong to Singapore for the new role, Alpe worked as chief executive of RedBox Storage before joining Ovolo in 2023.
Peter Guevarra has joined Manulife Investment Management in Hong Kong as director for Asia Pacific research and strategy with the company’s real estate division, according to a LinkedIn update. Guebarra stepped into his new role this month after 14 years with JLL in Sydney and Singapore, where he had served most recently as director for regional research with the property consultancy.
CBRE announced late last week that it has appointed Luke Moffatt (pictured), formerly the company’s head of leasing for APAC, as president for north Asia advisory services based in Shanghai. The move takes Moffatt back to Shanghai to lead leasing, sales, debt advisory and valuations for the property consultancy in Greater China and Korea. In the same announcement, the firm said that it has shifted Tom Gaffney, who formerly served as both regional managing director for Hong Kong and as president of north Asia advisory services, to head of leasing for Asia Pacific.
Nicholas Worley has joined Hillhouse Investment in Hong Kong as executive director for branding and communications, according to a LinkedIn update. Worley signs up with the parent company of real estate investment house Rava Partners after more than two years running his own Internet startup, and has previous experience with Hines, Bain and Company and Deloitte, as well as with global PR agencies.
