Hotel and logistics professionals dominate our list of who’s secured a new job in the region, as senior level players from Intercontinental Hotels, Goodman and Ping An make an appearance, and there’s even a place for an executive formerly in charge of promoting Donald Trump’s try at making money in China’s real estate market before he decided to devote his time to trade wars and rallies.
Jacky Mak has joined Goodman in Hong Kong as Director of Asset Management with the industrial developer. Mak stepped into his responsibilities with the Australian builder of warehouses and workshops this month after previously working as a Senior Asset Manager with CLSA in Hong Kong. The University of Hong Kong graduate also has experience as a Vice President with Phoenix Property Investors and with JLL, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Jie (Robby) Qiu is now a Senior Vice President with Guangdong’s Hopson Development, based in Shanghai. Qiu has responsibility for Hopson’s commercial real estate operations, including Hyatt, Rosewood and Kimpton Hotels in Shanghai. Prior to joining Hopson, Qiu was Chief Development Officer with Rosewood Hotels, which operates as a unit of New World Development, and also spent three years in Shanghai as Vice President of Development with the Trump Organisation where he was in charge of brand development in Greater China for Donald Trump’s eponymous operation.
Regina Wu has signed up with Intercontinental Hotels Group in Shanghai as Director of Development for China effective this month. Wu’s new role comes after taking a short break following her role as Director of Development for China with Thai hotel operator Dusit International. Wu also has previous experience with the Wyndham Hotel Group, CBRE and KPMG.
Roger Liu has joined Ping An Industrial Logistics in Shanghai as Business Development Director, as of this month. Liu’s new role in the world of sheds comes after the former Colliers and CBRE broker spent more than three years as Business Development Director for Eastern China with Goodman in Shanghai. The Shandong University of Technology graduate previously served with Ping An Real Estate as Investment Director from 2013 through 2015.
Joseph Fuqua has come aboard at Clearwater Capital Partners in Hong Kong as Vice President for Business Development with the local private equity shop. Fuqua joins Clearwater after spending over five years at Phoenix Property Investors, where he served most recently as Assistant Vice President for Investor Relations. Clearwater was acquired by Toronto-listed Fiera Capital in March of this year and in August was reported to be raising a new fund.
Sarah Xixi Lei has jumped to Sasseur Asset Management in Singapore as Investment & Asset Manager with the manager of SGX-listed Sasseur REIT. Lei took up her new responsibilities with manager of the first real estate investment trust to list mainland China outlet mall assets this month after seven years with Singapore’s DBS Bank, where the National University of Singapore graduate served most recently as an Assistant Vice President.
