Just a few months after one of its top Asia Pacific leaders relocated from Hong Kong to Singapore, Ivanhoe Cambridge is welcoming three new faces to its Lion City office.

Headlining the new hires is Josephine Yip, who joined the Canada-based fund manager this month as senior director of investments and asset management for APAC after four years in a portfolio management role at Singapore’s Alpha Investment Partners.

Yip’s colleagues at her new workplace include two freshly recruited investment and asset management advisors, as well as George Agethen, who is responsible for investment and asset management strategies at Ivanhoe Cambridge and until recently was stationed in Hong Kong.

A representative of the real estate investment branch of Montreal-based Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec confirmed to Mingtiandi that Agethen, who serves as senior vice president for APAC, had moved to Singapore in July, while Laurent Fischler, the firm’s head of investments for APAC, remains based in Hong Kong.

Breadth of Experience

Yip’s experience in Asia covers both investments and portfolio management across nearly all markets (including Australia, Vietnam, India and Korea) and all sectors (including data centres, residential and logistics), Ivanhoe Cambridge said.

Corene Chin

Corene Chin joins from SC Capital Partners

Before joining Alpha Investment Partners, a private fund management arm of asset manager Keppel Capital, Yip spent 12 years at Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC, where her last title was vice president. She began her career in 2001 as a consultant with property services firm DTZ (which merged with Cushman & Wakefield in 2015).

Yip holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA charterholder.

During her three years at SC Capital, Chin took responsibility for various acquisitions and asset management, value enhancement and disposition activities for pan-Asian opportunistic funds across asset classes and geographies.

Chin’s prior experience was in banking, including management roles at UOB and OCBC Bank. The holder of a double degree in accountancy and business management from Singapore Management University, she is both a chartered accountant and a CFA charterholder.

In three years at CBRE GI, Lee worked on investments in gateway cities across Asia, particularly logistics and residential investments in Japan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong and office transactions on an opportunity basis. He holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate from the National University of Singapore.

Alice Qi

Alice Qi adds to the Shanghai team

Joining Ivanhoe Cambridge as an advisor in the firm’s Shanghai office is Alice Qi, formerly of Perennial Holdings, where her duties included managing a real estate private equity fund. A former analyst at Goldman Sachs, Qi has also worked in Singapore and Beijing.
