US investment management firm Invesco has added to its real estate team in Asia by recruiting Morgan Stanley veteran Jason Choi to join the company’s opportunistic funds team.
At Invesco, Choi will be reunited with former Morgan Stanley colleague Calvin Chou, who joined the firm to begin building their opportunistic real estate funds business in Asia last year.
Choi, who is based in Hong Kong, spent nine years working with Chou on Morgan Stanley’s Asian real estate team.
Invesco Expanding Asia Team
According to sources familiar with the company’s plans, Choi’s hire is one of a series of additions that Invesco expects to make in 2016 as it bolsters its opportunistic funds business in the region.
Since first gaining a foothold in the region by acquiring AIG’s Hong Kong-based real estate platform in 2010, Invesco has now expanded its Asian-based team to nearly 90 member based in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore and Sydney.
