Greater China Real Estate People in the News 2016-01-18

This week a single agency continues to send out enough new job changes to fill a month’s worth of Mingtiandi updates as executives from all levels go looking for new homes. Also another former mainland hand catches on in Hong Kong and more updates from Beijing, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Read on for details.

arsh chaudryArsh Chaudhry has joined architecture and design firm Space Matrix in Singapore as CEO, after 18 years with Cushman & Wakefield. Formerly an Executive Managing Director for C&W’s Southeast Asia team, Chaudry is one of a stream of team members to leave the company at the end of 2015, following the merger with rival DTZ. During his nearly two decades with the company, the University of Pune graduate had worked with C&W in India and New York, in addition to Singapore.

chris currieChris Currie has joined Colliers International as Senior Director for Agency Services, based in Hong Kong. In this newly created role, Currie will work with Colliers existing leasing leaders to help build the agency’s new occupier services business in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Colliers in Hong Kong, Currie had spent over seven years with CBRE in mainland China and Vietnam, as well as serving a previous stint with Colliers in Vietnam.

akshay kulkarniAkshay Kulkarni has joined CBRE in Singapore as Director for Asia with the company’s CBRE Hotels division. The hospitality real estate specialist takes on his new position after eight years in various senior positions with Cushman & Wakefield’s residential and hospitality teams in India and Singapore. The graduate of France’s ESSEC business school also has experience with Knight Frank and the Institute for International Management & Technology.

Dato' Stewart LaBrooyDato’ Stewart LaBrooy is now Executive Chairman and Director with AREA Management Sdn Bhd in Malaysia. Dato’ Stewart takes on his new role with the subsidiary of boutique investment advisory firm AREA Advisors Pte Ltd after retiring as CEO and Executive Director of Axis REIT Managers Bhd (ARMB) on 31 December 2015. The 40 year industry veteran is also a board member of the Asia Pacific Real Estate Association (APREA).

calvin-yangCalvin Yang has joined SOHO China as a Director in charge of business development and is based in Beijing. Yang, who studied valuation and property management at the UK’s Lincoln University, joins the office developer run by mainland power couple Zhang Xin and Pan Shiyi after spending more than two years with CBRE in Beijing, and also previously had nearly three years experience working with Colliers International in the Chinese capital.

julia-parkJulia Park (박경희) has joined Colliers International in Singapore as an Associate Director with their Office Services team. The graduate of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology takes on her new agency position after spending nearly five years with rival Cushman & Wakefield’s Singapore operation. Park also has experience with C&W in Vietnam, as well as with JLL in Korea, Australia and Vietnam.
