Li Jie joins Colliers as head of northern China

Colliers International has appointed Li Jie (李杰) as Managing Director for the NASDAQ-listed property services firm’s North China business, according to a recent announcement by the company.

Li, who will be based in Beijing, joins Colliers from competitor JLL and is the latest in a series of senior-level hires by the company in Asia.

“Li Jie joins us as another high-performing and established leader in the region with a great wealth of expertise and strategic vision,” said Colliers Asia Pacific CEO David Hand. “With a proven track record in China, an international perspective and excellent client relationships, Li will help Colliers accelerate the success of our clients in North China.”

Since Hand, who also came from JLL, took the reins at Colliers last year the real estate brokerage has brought on new leadership in a number of regional hubs, before adding Li in Beijing. Nigel Smith was appointed head of the company’s Hong Kong operation in June of last year, and veteran investment broker Tang Wei Leng rejoined the firm in October as head of Colliers’ Singapore office. Both executives have since brought in new business line leaders to enhance capabilities in their respective cities.

Before being appointed to his new post in Beijing, Li served at JLL for more than 15 years, including running the company’s Wuhan operation since 2012 and heading up its strategic consulting division since 2005.

The graduate of Shanghai’s Tongji University and Cornell University in the US is joining Colliers for the second time, after working with the property services company as a summer intern in 2000, while still studying for his master’s degree at Cornell.
