China Real Estate People in the News 2014-07-28

This week a Hong Kong PE firm loses one of its US reps, CBRE continues to restructure its investment services department, and JLL announces more promotions in its team. Read on for more details.

Ashish Gupta Gaw CapitalAshish Gupta is said to have resigned his position as Senior Vice President for Acquisitions with Gaw Capital Partners USA. The former Lehman Brothers Senior Vice President joined the Hong Kong-based private equity firm in December last year, and was based in New York, where the firm currently does not list an office address. The high-profile fund manager which is headed by tycoon Goodwin Gaw also brought on board Roman Nemtsov as Senior Vice President, Investments to be based out of a planned Chicago office for the company during February.

Anton Eilers CBREAnton Eilers has landed on his feet again at CBRE in Beijing, this time as an Executive Director in the company’s Investment Services division, where he will be responsible for advising on outbound investment deals. Eilers most recently spent more than 18 months captaining the launch of CBRE’s Client Care and Development program in China, an initiative which no longer appears on the company’s website. The Australian native also formerly served as the head of the company’s residential business for Asia, a business line which has been significantly downsized.

Jeffrey HuJeffrey Hu has left his position as Executive Director and head of the Investment Services team in Shanghai for CBRE. Hu’s departure follows less than one month after Director Mark Suchy left the same division of the real estate services provider. Hu’s future plans remain unconfirmed, although the Tongji University graduate was earlier said to be considering relocating to the United States.

Miky Pan CBREMiky Pan has jumped over to the Investment Properties team at CBRE in Shanghai, effective this month. Pan switched to the investment services division of the international property services firm after serving more than two years as a manager with the company’s residential project marketing team. In the past two years CBRE has dramatically scaled back their residential marketing division, with the earlier resignation of Executive Director David Chen last year and the departure of several other members of the former profit centre.

Eric Hirsch JLLEric Hirsch has been promoted to Regional Director and Head of Markets at JLL in Beijing. Hirsch has already spent more than 10 years with the real estate services provider, most recently as a National Director. The Penn State University graduate formerly worked with Murray Hill Properties before joining JLL, and is recognised for his skill as a deal negotiator and knowledge of the leasing markets in China.

Tze Wee Chan Axis REITTze Wee Chan has now joined Malaysian real estate investment trust Axis REIT as Head of Special Projects. Chan, who fomerly served as vice-president for marketing at Workflowww International Limited in Shanghai has now returned to Malaysia, where the University of Manchester graduate formerly had served as vice-president for investment promotions with Malaysia Property Incorporated.

Summer Chen JLLSummer Chen has been promoted to the level of Manager with the valuation division of JLL in Beijing. Chen was able to move up the ranks after three years as a valuer with the property services firm, which she joined after spending two years with Hong Kong-based Centaline Properties in Shenzhen. Chen holds a master’s degree in real estate management from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and a bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou.

Jade Tan has joined Invesco Real Estate as a Research Analyst based in Hong Kong. Tan joins the US-based fund management firm, which now has offices in more than 20 countries, after having spent more than two years with DTZ in Hong Kong, where she served as an Assistant Manager. Chen holds a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Finance & Investment from the University of Reading in the UK.
