For His Next Role CBRE Hong Kong Head Craig Shute Heads for the Airport

2015/11/11 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

Craig Shute

Craig Shute will start his new role in Adelaide in February 2016

Craig Shute, the head of CBRE’s Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau business is leaving the company to manage real estate operations for Adelaide, Australia’s international airport starting next year.

Shute’s departure, which was revealed in the Australian media last month, takes the veteran executive back to where he started his career as CBRE reshuffles its management in Asia Pacific.

Leaving for the Airport, Heading Home

According to an account in an aviation industry journal, Shute will assume his new responsibilities as Executive General Manager for Property with Adelaide Airport in February 2016 as the south Australian transportation hub reorganises its leadership team.

While the airport role will be a new one for the veteran broker, it takes Shute back to where he started his career with CBRE in 1998 as director of the Adelaide office’s investment sales division. Since that time, the graduate of the University of South Australia worked for the real estate agency in San Diego, and Las Vegas, before taking over responsibility for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau in 2008.

CBRE’s Greater China Structure Grows Clearer

Shute’s plans to return to Australia were revealed slightly more than one week before CBRE unveiled a restructuring plan for its management in Greater China under the leadership of North Asia President Ben Duncan. The restructuring included the immediate departure of CBRE China President Ivan Poon.

Duncan took over CBRE’s business in the region one year ago after helping the agency to build up its joint venture operation in Japan since joining the company from JLL in 2010.
