Asia’s agency world is on the move in the new year, with Mingtiandi’s survey of industry professionals following veteran brokers in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai as they find new roles this week. Also finding their way into this week’s column is a former agency team member who is taking a step up after more than two years with one of Hong Kong’s biggest developers, and we are also tracking the latest moves as WeWork continues to build its team in China. Mark Palmer has joined Fuin Real Estate in Hong Kong as Director of Business Development with the luxury residential development and marketing firm. In a statement on his LinkedIn account the former CBRE Director declared that, “After 13 years of Hong Kong commercial real estate, I have decided to move on and focus on development of luxury residential in Tokyo and other markets…” In addition to spending the last two and a half years with the office leasing team at CBRE in Hong Kong, Palmer also has previous experience with DTZ (now Cushman & Wakefield) and Knight Frank.
Yevgeny Bam has joined Colliers International in Beijing as Director of Office Services in China’s capital. Bam’s new role is a return to the world of brokerage after spending last year operating his online pet industry startup, Petopia, and having also tried his hand as Head of Global Partnerships with shared office startup DayDayUp. Before joining the startup world, Bam had spent more than two years with the office team at JLL in Beijing, and more than three years with CBRE.
Emily Cheng has joined the Retail team at CBRE in Hong Kong as an Associate Director. Cheng will now be focusing on assisting food and beverage, as well as lifestyle brands, in finding shopping space in the Asian financial hub. Cheng’s new role comes after more than three years with the marketing team at CBRE, where she served most recently as Head of Marketing and Communications. The University of Sydney product also has experience in the PR agency world and with the China Daily in Beijing.
Alex Mok has been promoted to Assistant General Manager for Asset Management at Henderson Land in Hong Kong, taking at step up at the blue chip developer after two and a half years with the firm. The graduate of the University of Toronto and the school of business at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology had previously served as a Senior Asset Management Manager at Henderson, and also has prior experience with CBRE, Deloitte and JLL.
Helen Zhang has been promoted to Community Manager with WeWork in Shanghai, as the shared space giant continues to expand its team in Mainland China. Zhang was promoted from Community Lead last month after just more than one year with the US-based firm. The graduate of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) also has previous experience with Massmo Dutti and Lululemon in Shanghai.
Jenny Linh Nguyen is now Director of Corporate Sales for Intercontinental Hotels Group in Ho Chi Minh City, after having been promoted from Assistant Director this month. The graduate of Houston Community College has now been with IHG, the parent firm for Intercontinental, Crown Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels for more than two years, and also has previous experience as a Sales Manager with Colliers International in Vietnam.
