Asia Real Estate People in the News 2018-01-01

2018/01/01 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

The new year has dawned and at least a few of the region’s real estate executives will be starting 2018 at new desks as we browse through the list of who took on a new role this week. We start off the year with property agency Knight Frank unveiling a new head for its international property business in what looks like a regional push to build up that division, and there’s much more if you just keep reading.

Victoria Garrett Knight Frank late last week announced the appointment of Victoria Garrett as the firm’s Head of Residential for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. Garrett, who formerly was a partner with Knight Frank’s office in Dubai, relocated to Singapore during the second half of 2017 and has focused on building up the company’s China residential business, including setting up new residential teams in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The company says that it plans to further expand its mainland residential business in 2018 with Garrett overseeing marketing of overseas and local developments, sales and leasing.

Yan LiangYan Liang has been promoted to Assistant Manager for Store Development with Starbucks China, based in Shanghai. Yan takes on her new role with the gourmet coffee giant after just 18 months as Senior Analyst for Store Development in the same office. Yan joined Starbucks last year after completing a Master’s degree at the Technische Universität Berlin after earlier serving with local property consulting firm Ecommercial in Shanghai.

Alex LiuAlex Liu is now Associate Director and Head of the Fit-Out Project Management Team with Arcadis in Shanghai. The new title comes after Liu served as an Associate Partner with Arcadis/EC Harris from mid-2016, according to his LinkedIn profile, and as Arcadis finishes off the rebranding of its offices following its 2011 acquisition of project management firm EC Harris. Liu originally joined EC Harris in Shanghai in 2010 after earlier stints with SIP Project Management in the city and China Gezhouba Construction.

Felix ChanFelix Chan has left his role as Assistant Sales Manager with CK Asset Holdings in Guangzhou to return to Hong Kong as a Wealth Management Manager with AIA in the financial services titan’s office in Quarry Bay. The East China University of Science and Technology graduate had been with CK Asset, which was formerly known as Cheung Kong Properties and earlier as Hutchison Whampoa Properties, since 2010 and had been based in Guangzhou for nearly five years.
