Asia Real Estate People in the News 2017-08-21

2017/08/20 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

It’s nearly time to wrap up those summer vacations and get back to work, and many of Asia’s real estate professionals will be returning from their summer road trips to start driving new desks this month. Leading off this week, a veteran real estate lender is finding yet another new home after three years with HSBC, while a former mainland shed builder scores a new role managing some of the sexier stuff down in Singapore. Also, a one-time star office broker will be working directly with the boss of a Hong Kong-listed mainland developer, and there’s much more if you’ll just keep reading.

james limJames Lim is leaving his post as Head of Real Estate Finance for Asia with HSBC, according to an update on the executive’s LinkedIn profile. Lim, who is currently on gardening leave, will be departing from the UK-based financial institution later this year, after spending three years helping to build up a financing platform for commercial real estate and hotel deals across the Asia region. FinanceAsia, which first reported Lim’s career move said that the veteran financier is expected to start work at a new firm in November. Lim came to HSBC from BNP Paribas, where he had served three years as head of real estate finance for APAC, and also has previous experience with Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley and ANZ.

colin clarkColin Clark has joined Merx Construction Management as Director of Project Management for Singapore and Southeast Asia, based in Singapore. Clark signed up with the sixteen-year-old construction management firm after serving as Head of Project and Facilities Management for Colliers International in Singapore. The engineering veteran also has experience as Construction Director for the Redwood Group’s China operation (now part of e-Shang Redwood) and previously served as head of CBRE Project Management for China for nearly four years.

cruise chenCruise Chen has joined KWG Property as Director of Office and Podium Retail for Eastern China and Beijing. Chen, who will continue to be based in Shanghai, told Mingtiandi that he is now responsible for leasing of the Hong Kong-listed developer’s properties in Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing, with that territory likely to include more projects in eastern and northern China in the future. Chen, who now reports directly to KWG Chairman, Kong Jian Min, signed up with the Guangzhou-based developer after a four year stint with Hong Kong’s Hang Lung Properties, where he served most recently as Senior Manager for Central Office Leasing. Chen also has previous experience with CBRE in Shanghai.

adam fitzpatrickAdam Fitzpatrick has joined CBRE in Ho Chi Minh City as Directory for Advisory and Transactions covering both investment and leasing deals, according to an update to his LinkedIn profile. Fitzpatrick takes on his role with the real estate agency after nearly two years with rival Colliers International, where he served most recently as Director of Capital Markets and Investment Services. The University of Nottingham graduate also has previous experience with advisory firm Cavendish Maxwell in Dubai.

sha baoSha Bao has joined Financial Street Holdings as an Investment Manager, based in Beijing. In her new role with the Beijing commercial developer, Sha will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies for new acquisitions, including financial modeling and appraisal for target properties. Prior to taking on her new position with Financial Street, the graduate of the UK’s University of Reading had served in analyst roles with both Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE in Shenzhen and Wuhan.

david huangDavid Huang has been promoted to Facilities Manager with JLL in Beijing, where he has responsibility for the company’s Verizon account. The promotion comes after the Dalian University of Foreign Languages graduate had worked more than four years as an Assistant Facilities Manager serving JLL’s CA Technologies account. All together, Huang has now spent more than six years with JLL’s facilities management team after joining from Nestle in 2011.

As usual, if you know of other China real estate professionals changing their jobs, getting promoted or just doing something exciting, please feel free to share with the rest of the community here at Mingtiandi.
