In today’s set of people moves from around Asia, a long-time private equity real estate executive finds himself carrying a new namecard after his division at Standard Chartered was acquired earlier this month, a mainland developer builds up the marketing team for its international operation and Keppel Land mourns the passing of its CFO. Thomas Liu is now a Partner with Actis in Hong Kong, after the UK emerging markets investment firm acquired Standard Chartered Bank’s Principal Finance Real Estate (PFRE) business in Asia earlier this month. Liu’s new role comes after he served as Managing Director and Head of Greater China and North Asia with Standard Chartered’s Principal Finance Real Estate division since 2010. The Boston University graduate also has experience with Aetos Capital and CDIB Capital.
Keppel Land’s Chief Financial Officer Lim Kei Hin passed away earlier this month, according to an obituary in Singapore’s Straits Times. Lim had served as the government-backed developers CFO since 2007 after previous stints with Singapore Airlines and Singapore airport catering provider SATS. Lim also served as a director of Keppel’s real estate private equity division, Alpha Investment Partners.
Former Volkswagen Singapore General Manager of Marketing and Communications Jamie Lee is said to have joined China Fortune Land Development International’s growing operation in the Southeast Asian hub. According to a media report, Lee, who had been with Volkswagen since 2006 but left in February of this year, will be reporting to Dominic Chew, Chief Marketing Officer with the international branch of the mainland China developer in her new role.
Onyx Hospitality Group has appointed Phan Ing Pai as Vice President of Operations for Greater China, based in Shanghai, according to an announcement today by the hotel management company. In his new role, Phan will be reporting to Onyx Senior Vice President and Head of Greater China, Gina Wo, as he leads the company’s operations team in the Greater China region. Onyx, which operates the Amari hotels as its flagship brand opened the Amari Yangshuo last year as its first under the label in China.
Dominic Brown has been promoted to Head of Research for Asia Pacific at Cushman & Wakefield, as he takes a step from overseeing the company’s charts, spreadsheets and reports operations for Australia and New Zealand. Armed with his PhD in geography from Leeds University, Brown will be overseeing C&W’s research team for the region while continuing to be based in Australia. The company has yet to make a statement regarding Brown’s new role, although his promotion was noted on his LinkedIn page.
Samantha Toh has joined Deliveroo in Singapore as APAC and Middle East Facilities Lead for the UK food delivery business. Deliveroo, which saw its business double in Singapore to S$26.4 million in sales, added Toh to the team from Uber, where she had served as APACx Senior Workplace Project Manager for more than a year. The graduate of Ngee Ann Polytechnic and RMIT also has experience with Harry’s Singapore and Savills.
