As we pass the mid-point in July, Asia’s real estate experts continue to find new jobs or step up to greater responsibilities, with no sign of a summer lull. Leading off this week, a Japanese private equity veteran calls it quits, while a developer of stores that selling funky furniture with Nordic-sounding names heads to home base in Sweden. Read on for all the news on who got the role you wanted.
IDERA Capital Management chairman Mikihisa Hirai has resigned from his role at the Japanese real estate investment platform, according to a recent story in PERE. The former banker had been at the helm of IDERA since 2012, and will continue to act as an advisor to the company. China’s Fosun International bought Tokyo-based IDERA from Unison Capital in 2014, and has used the real estate management firm in its Japanese property acquisitions since then.
Stéphan Deville has taken on a new role as Mixed-use Development Manager at IKEA Group, and relocated to Malmo, Sweden. The nine-year veteran of the Swedish retail group steps into his new responsibilities after more than six years in China, where he served most recently as a Project Development Director with IKEA Centres in Shanghai. In his time with the group’s global shopping centre division, Deville helped roll-out IKEA anchored shopping centres on the mainland.
Stanley Y S Leung has joined GT Land Holdings as a General Manager covering the developer’s business in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Hangzhou. Leung joins the Guangzhou-based commercial developer from Hong Kong’s Sun Hung Kai, where he had served for more than one year as an Assistant General Manager with responsibility for leasing. In his new role, Leung, who formerly served as Head of Asset Management for Greater China with JLL, will continue to focus on leasing activities.
Robin Teh has joined JLL in Korea as Head of Advisory. Teh takes on his new role at the property services provider after more than eight years with Chestertons MENA in Dubai, where he served most recently as Country Manager for the UAE and as a director with the company’s Valuations and Advisory division. The graduate of Edinburgh’s Napier University and Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic also has experience with Hamptons International in Dubai.
Ingrid Cheh has been promoted to Associate Director with JLL’s research team in Hong Kong. The graduate of the Master’s program at the School of Architecture at Columbia University moves up to her new role with the international property consultancy after two years as a Senior Manager, where she is responsible for coverage of Hong Kong’s residential sector. Cheh also has previous experience with Hong Kong real estate investment house Pamfleet, where she was part of the acquisitions team.
Fun Tong has joined CBRE in Shanghai as Sales and Solution Development Lead with the company’s Global Workplace Solutions team. Tong jumps to the property consultancy from rival JLL, where he had worked as Head of Solution Development for two years. The graduate of King’s College in London also has previous experience with facilities management specialists OCS Group and with Johnson Controls.
