Takashi Murata, Managing Director, Co-Head of Asia Real Estate and Head of Japan, Warburg Pincus
The second annual Mingtiandi Tokyo Forum is less than one month away and will bring together more than 250 senior leaders from Asia Pacific’s real estate investment community for a day of discussions and thought leadership in and about the region’s most active market.
Taking place on Wednesday, 5 November at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Tokyo, the forum is headlined by interviews with Takashi Murata, co-head of Asia Pacific real estate for Warburg Pincus and Andrew Burych, head of east Asia real estate for Brookfield Asset Management, with more than 20 speakers set to take the stage.
With eleven sessions to be staged throughout the day, the forum will cover sectors including hospitality, residential, industrial and commercial, as well as featuring a panel on the growing role of Japanese capital globally. Tickets to the forum are available at the link above.
As Japan continues to rank as Asia Pacific’s most active market for real estate investment, organisations including SC Capital Partners, The Ascott Ltd, IHG and the Development Bank of Japan will all be represented on stage at the forum.
Japan Market in Focus
With Japan’s low borrowing costs, stable economy and deep capital markets continuing to attract institutional real estate investors to the country, Warburg Pincus has been ramping up its business in Asia’s second largest economy, leveraging Murata’s nearly two decades of experience.

Andrew Burych, Managing Partner, Head of East Asia, Brookfield Asset Management
After joining the company early last year, after twenty-five years with Goldman Sachs, Murata led Warburg Pincus’ acquisition of the 16,000-room Tokyo Beta residential platform in a deal announced in April.
In addition to that living sector transaction, Warburg Pincus in August this year deepened its engagement with Japan’s industrial sector by acquiring a pair of Greater Tokyo warehouses for around $240 million.
Those 2025 deals come after Warburg Pincus last year set up the Vita Partners Life Sciences JV with Lendlease, with that platform counting Japan among its primary markets.
Following this burst of activity, Murata will be sharing insights on what comes next for Warburg Pincus in Japan, and around the Asia Pacific region, and how the company continues to pursue yield for its investors in a rapidly changing environment.
Brookfield has also made itself a major player in the Japan market this year, acquiring a stake in Tokyo’s Meguro Gajoen complex and a pair of logistics properties from Hines in February transactions which total $1.6 billion.
With the fund management giant having identified Japan as a top market for expansion in the region, Burych will be sitting down with Mingtiandi founder Michael Cole to discuss what makes the Japan market compelling for international institutions and how the company is bringing its global investment playbook to the local market.
