With an IT industry ranked as the world’s third largest at JPY 51 trillion ($370 billion), Japan is looking to double its battery of server racks from around 138,000 in 2023 to 272,000 in 2027, according to Fuji Chimera Research Institute.

Driven by a burgeoning content industry and expanding cloud sector South Korea data centre is also seeing growing demand profiles from US hyperscalers, Chinese tech giants and domestic platforms such as Naver and Kakao.
