Princeton Digital Group Breaks Ground on $1B Jakarta Data Centre Campus

Princeton Digital Group on Wednesday broke ground on a 120-megawatt data centre campus in Greater Jakarta with an investment value of $1 billion.

Located east of the Indonesian capital at Greenland International Industrial Centre in Bekasi regency, the JC3 campus is about 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) from the 22MW JC2 campus in Cibitung, PDG said in a release. The first phase of JC3 is planned to be ready for service by the fourth quarter of 2026.

The Singapore-based firm backed by private equity majors Warburg Pincus and Stonepeak will reach 230MW of total capacity in Indonesia with the new hyperscale campus, reinforcing PDG’s position as one of the largest data centre operators in Southeast Asia’s biggest economy, according to the announcement.

“Indonesia is one of the fastest-growing digital economies in Asia Pacific, and we remain deeply committed to supporting its continued growth,” said PDG co-founder and chief operating officer Varoon Raghavan. “Backed by a proven track record of delivery excellence across the region, our JC3 campus is purpose-built to provide the scale, performance, and sustainability our global and local customers require as cloud and AI workloads accelerate.”

Efficiency and Performance

Full power has been contracted for JC3 from dual-grid feeds provided by state utility PLN Persero. After the launch of JC2, Indonesia’s first data centre powered by biomass, the AI-ready JC3 will feature next-gen liquid cooling to enable high-density workloads while enhancing energy efficiency and environmental performance, PDG said.

The construction start comes after a fellow Singapore-based platform, STT GDC, in April broke ground on its third Indonesian data centre and topped out its second. Also situated within the Greenland International Industrial Centre, the two facilities will each deliver 24MW of IT load upon completion.

The Jakarta data centre market’s total development pipeline — comprising both under-construction projects and planned capacity — grew by nearly 30 percent in the first half of 2025 to reach 709MW, according to a Cushman & Wakefield report.

Microsoft launched its first cloud region, Indonesia Central, in Jakarta during the half as part of a $1.7 billion investment, while Oracle plans a new cloud region, Indonesia North, at GDS affiliate DayOne’s facilities in Batam’s Nongsa Digital Park and Equinix set up its first IBX data centre, JK1, in central Jakarta.

Korean Breakthrough

The update from PDG comes as the firm earlier this week announced the development of a 48MW data centre in Incheon with a total investment of $700 million, marking the firm’s entry into South Korea. Development manager ESR will construct the core and shell of the facility in partnership with Seoul-based Wide Creek Asset Management, while PDG will manage the internal fit-out and operations.

The development of the Incheon data centre boosts PDG’s portfolio to over 1.2 gigawatts of IT capacity across seven countries, also including Singapore, Japan, India, Indonesia, China and Malaysia.

PDG made headlines in July when it announced that US private equity firm Stonepeak would invest $1.3 billion to purchase preferred equity in the company, contributing to a total of more than $3 billion in fresh cash raised this year.
