China’s retailers, mall developers and consumption consultants will have another opportunity to trade namecards and talk deals next year when the organiser of Europe’s biggest real estate trade show rolls out a retail real estate event in Shanghai.
MAPIC China, is to be held on June 11-12, 2015 and aims to bring together international and regional retail brands with shopping mall owners and developers in China. Reed Midem, which organises the MIPIM and MAPIC trade shows in Cannes each year will be organising the two day event in China’s commercial hub.
‘The growth of disposable income in China has led to a boom in retail business and a surge in the development of world-class shopping malls throughout the country. The strong demand from Chinese customers for international brands coincides with these brands’ desire to enter the dynamic Chinese market,’ said Mapic director Nathalie Depetro.
Like the European version of the event, MAPIC China will include conference sessions, an exhibition area and networking events to help facilitate retail real estate development. The new event appears to be a significant new competitor for the Mall China organised annually in Beijing by the local non-profit by the same name in conjunction with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Reed’s MIPIM Asia event will be held December 2nd and 3rd in Hong Kong, with Mingtiandi’s Michael Cole moderating sessions on China outbound investment and logistics real estate opportunities at the event.
