Construction firm Mace has appointed former Barclays executive Nick Brand to run a new office dedicated to the Asia Pacific region that the company is opening in Singapore, according to a statement this week from the UK-based project management specialist.
Brand joins Mace as the company’s regional manager for Asia Pacific following 12 years with the real estate team at Barclays, where he spent the last four years as the financial institution’s regional head of corporate real estate solutions for Asia Pacific and the Middle East, based in Singapore. Earlier Brand had worked as the UK bank’s global head of capital projects based in London.
Project Manager Focuses on Asian Opportunities
“Nick has a fantastic track record of delivering a hugely complex and challenging programme of real estate across Asia Pacific,” Jason Millett, Mace’s chief operating officer for consultancy said in a statement. “In the long term we see the Asia Pacific region as a hugely significant growth opportunity for our global business, and from his base in Singapore Nick will be tasked with making that a reality.”
Mace has delivered projects in a range of Asian cities in recent years including providing project management for the construction of Landmark 81 – Vietnam’s tallest building, the Hong Kong Science Park and delivering the world’s largest casino, the Venetian Hotel and Resort in Macau.
Mace said in the statement that it anticipates that Brand will help the company to expand its presence in Asia, where it already employs over 300 professionals providing project, programme and facilities management services for international corporate clients as well as regional developers and operators.
