Louise Kavanagh to Lead Nuveen Real Estate in Hong Kong

2017/12/19 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

Louise Kavanagh

Nuveen’s latest hire, Louise Kavanagh, will be joining some old friends at her new job

Just five months after TIAA asset management affiliate Nuveen opened an office in Hong Kong, the company formerly known as TIAA Global Asset Management has brought on board Louise Kavanagh as managing director for real estate, based in the Asian financial hub.

Kavanagh joins the financial giant, which had $900 billion in assets under management as of June 30th this year, after four years with Invesco, where she had managed the company’s Invesco Real Estate Asia Fund since its inception.

APAC Veteran Set to Provide Regional Expertise

In her new role, the Western Sydney University graduate will be focusing on opportunities in Asia Pacific’s largest cities, and will provide regional expertise to Nuveen’s TH Real Estate affiliate.

“Louise has an impressive track-record and a wealth of experience that will be an asset to our business,” said Chris Reilly, managing director for Asia Pacific at TH Real Estate. “We look forward to benefitting from Louise’s experience and expertise as we take forward our strategy of investing in the largest and most transparent APAC cities that are both defensive and best positioned to benefit from structural growth in the region.”

Reuniting the Invesco Team at a New Address

With Kavanagh taking over a new desk this month, she will see a few familiar faces around the Nuveen office. The company’s senior managing director and APAC chief, Simon England-Brammer, was an MD with Invesco until July 2016, and Hong Kong-based Nuveen executives Kelvin Cheung and Ying Li Tan also came over from the Atlanta-based firm.

Before joining Invesco in 2013, Kavanagh was a director with Deutsche Bank affiliate, RREEF Real Estate Asia Pacific where she served as head of acquisitions and asset management and was responsible for origination, due diligence and monitoring investments. Prior to joining RREEF in 2007, Louise held a number of roles at Investa Property Group, Colonial First State Property and Royal Sun Alliance in Australia and Hong Kong.

Kavanagh is a member of the Urban Land Institute’s Hong Kong Executive Committee and the Women’s Leadership Initiative.
