Top level moves at two of the world’s largest fund managers lead Mingtiandi’s roundup of personnel changes around Asia this week, with local media in Seoul reporting a new head of Korea for Brookfield, and Nuveen introducing some new leadership in Singapore. There are also some major shifts at the parent company of Best Western Hotels, as well as at data centre operators, brokerages and more.
Brookfield Asset Management is set to name Jun-Woo Park of Seoul-based Hahn & Co as head of its South Korean infrastructure and private equity operations, according to local news reports. Park is said to be leaving Hahn & Co in October after more than a decade with the fund manager and will take on his new role with Brookfield near the end of this year. During his time at Hahn & Co, Park oversaw the acquisition of two shipping firms and also managed the Lahan Hotels platform.
Nuveen Asia Pacific announced last week that it had appointed Gracee Teo as vice president and head of Southeast Asia institutional from 1 September. Reporting to Simon England-Brammer, who heads Nuveen’s global client group for Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Teo joins the US fund manager from Fullerton Asset Management. During her more than 15 years in the industry, Teo has also served with Lion Global Investors, HSBC Asset Management and ABN AMRO Asset Management.
BWH Hotel Group announced on 23 September that its president and chief executive, David Kong will be retiring at the end of 2021, after two decades with the global hospitality management firm. The Phoenix, Arizona-based company, which manages the WorldHotels Collection, Best Western Hotels & Resorts and Surestay Hotel Group said that it will reveal a new chief executive at its annual convention on 7 October.
Singapore server infrastructure provider ST Telemedia Global Data Centres has appointed Nicholas Toh as chief executive for Northeast Asia, according to a LinkedIn update. Toh took on his new duties with the Temasek Holdings-backed infrastructure firm this month after more than seven years as head of M&A and head of investments for India with ST Telemedia. The University of Queensland graduate also has previous experience with Securus Data Property Fund and Macquarie Bank.
Rachel Luo has joined Space Matrix as head of business development in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, according to a LinkedIn update. Luo picked up her new name cards recently after more than six years with rival design and project management firm AD Incorporation in Hong Kong. The University of Central Lancashire graduate also has previous experience at Adrianse Group and Shanghai Matsu Furniture.
Selina Yan has signed up with Colliers International in Beijing as an associate director with the office services team, according to a LinkedIn update. Yan is part of the tenant representation squad at Colliers after previously spending more than 13 years with the leasing team at China World Trade Center in the Chinese capital. The North China University of Technology graduate also has previous experience with North Star Offices.
Sunny Feridun has rejoined Life Residential in Hong Kong this month as a senior portfolio manager. The move reunites Feridun with the outbound investment specialist firm where he had previously spent nearly two years as a business development manager. The former Shanghai resident also has previous experience as Haart Estate Agents in the UK and as an independent consultant on the London property market based in Hong Kong.
