In this week’s edition of People in the News, one of Hong Kong’s largest developers has appointed a pair of new directors to its board, with a top ten mainland builder making a similar move.
With company earnings season in full swing, new directors also appeared on the board of China’s Landsea Green Real Estate as well as on the top decision-making group for a NASDAQ-listed rental apartment operator.
Andrew Fung Hau Chung has been appointed as an executive director of Henderson Land Development, according to a news release. Separately, Lau Yum Cheun, one of the company’s existing executive directors, did not stand for re-election at an upcoming annual general meeting. Fung joined Henderson in 2017, after stepping down from a senior role at Hang Seng Bank. The veteran financier joined Hang Seng Bank in 1995 as a relationship manager and rose through the ranks to hold various executive director-level roles.
Wang Guangjian has been appointed as an executive director of Longfor Group Holdings, according to a company announcement. Wang, 48, is a senior vice president of the group, CEO of the company’s rental housing business and the chairman of Longfor Smart Service Group. Wang joined the company in 2000 and served as general manager of Chengdu Longfor. He obtained a Master’s degree in Management from Chongqing University, majoring in Architectural Economy Management in 2001.
Adrian Sum Pui Ying has resigned from his role as an executive director of Sino-Ocean Group Holding, according to an announcement to the Hong Kong stock exchange by the mainland developer. Sino-Ocean has appointed Wang Honghui to take Sum’s place on the board with the 15-year company veteran also joining the investment committee. Sum, who had served on the board since August 2013, will continue to serve as chief financial officer of Sino-Ocean Group.
Huang Zheng has been appointed as executive director of Landsea Green Real Estate, and has also been named company president to replace founder Tian Ming, according to an announcement. Huang, 37, graduated from Wuhan University in 2004, and went on to complete graduate studies at Beijing’s Tsinghua University in 2007. Before joining Landsea as a vice president in 2019, Huang had previously worked for China Resources (Dalian) Co., Ltd., CITIC Real Estate and Hailiang Group.
Jiang Chao has been appointed as an executive director and executive vice president of Landsea Green Real Estate. Jiang, 41, graduated from the Real Estate Management Department of Liyang Jianzhu University. He has previously worked for Longhu Group Holding, Vanke Enterprise and other companies, and has extensive experience in real estate, land acquisition and project acquisitions.
Chengcai Qu has been appointed as a director of Q&K International Group Limited, the holding company for Chinese long-term apartment rental platform Qingke, according to the NASDAQ-listed company. Qu has served as Qingke’s vice president since 2014 after previously being employed as a director of the office of public relations at Antai School of Economics and Management of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. From 2004 to 2006, Qu was a newspaper reporter specializing in business and management.
