Mingtiandi Goes Mobile

2013/08/19 by Michael Cole Leave a Comment

Mingtiandi mobile themeGiven that I’m in the technology consulting business it’s about time that Mingtiandi got caught up with the world of mobile.

So I’m proud to announce that as of today Mingtiandi is now available in a mobile version for your Android, iOS or Blackberry device. Just use your browser to cruise to Mingtiandi as usual and you can enjoy seeing the site in a mobile optimised version.

Quick and Easy for Users on the Go

The mobile view of the site incorporates a special theme for mobile visitors that ensures the site loads fast and navigates easily. And all of this mobile optimisation is not accomplished at the sake of readability. By allowing users to use handy menus and zoom in on key features, the theme maintains a high level of usability. Tap on any of the menu items and they automatically zoom in to give you access to Mingtiandi’s category by tag, category or special pages.

How Does All this Stuff Work?

The web version of Mingtiandi works just fine on your home broadband connection (or as fine as anything does on the Chinese Internet). However, to make site attractive and easy use on the web it includes a lot of javascript, CSS (style sheets) and image files which slow down response on those delicate mobile connections.

So to ensure that you can get all of your China real estate news while you are on the move, the mobile version uses compact images, simpler pages and simplifed CSS.

What If I Don’t Like the Mobile Version?

Mobile footer switch

Just click to switch

Never fear! Mingtiandi still offers visitors the ability to switch between our mobile theme and the standard Mingtiandi theme. Just look for the button in the footer of any page. Press it once, and we will remember your preference.

I know that some of you have pointed out how nice it would be to have a native Mingtiandi app for your mobile device, and I would like that too. That will be a great project for the days when Mingtiandi becomes a commercial enterprise.

Until then I hope you will enjoy the new mobile version of Mingtiandi and if you have any ideas for improving things please get in touch.
