Role changes in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and London feature in this week’s collection of people moves here on Mingtiandi, as we track yet another WeWork veteran seeking greener pastures and a board member at Vanke’s overseas unit moving on as the developer’s UK operations grow quiet. Keep reading for all these changes and more.

jie wei hsbcA recent WeWork graduate has found safe refuge in Hong Kong as HSBC brings on board Jie Wei as its global head of real estate investment banking this month. Wei began work at the banking giant during August after having spent just over a year and a half with the once-high flying co-working unicorn in New York, where he headed up WeWork’s real estate partnership efforts globally. Prior to buying a ticket on Adam Neumann’s magical mystery tour the graduate of the China University of Political Science and Law had spent nearly nine years at Goldman Sachs’ real estate banking division, and also has previous experience at UBS.

lily lin vankeLily Lin has resigned from her position as an executive director of China Vanke Overseas, a Hong Kong-listed division of the mainland development giant. Lin’s departure took effect last week, according to an announcement to the Hong Kong exchange, which indicated that the five year company veteran was leaving to devote more time to her personal commitments. Vanke has stayed relatively quiet in the UK, where Lin headed up their operation, since buying a West End office project for around $154 million in 2016.

james ku walmartJames Ku has taken a step up at Walmart China where the six year company veteran was promoted to senior vice president and chief operating officer earlier this month. In his new role Ku is responsible for leading day to day operations of the US retailer while based in Shenzhen, including promoting expansion across retail channels and reinventing store formats. Ku received his promotion after previously serving two and a half years as senior vice president of China realty with the company.

chris chen landseaChris Chen has joined Landsea Group in Shanghai as executive director for fund management at the mainland developer. Chen signed up with Landsea after more than five years with Warburg Pincus-backed redevelopment specialist Nova Property Investment in the city, where he served most recently as investment director. The graduate of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics also has previous experience with accounting firms Deloitte and KPMG.

charles wong colliersCharles Wong has been promoted to director of people, performance and administration at Colliers International in Singapore, according to an update to his LinkedIn profile. Wong received his new promotion after spending less than one year with the company as associate and head of people and performance with the company. Prior to joining Colliers the graduate of Canada’s Simon Fraser University served stints at facilities services provider BGIS and with Gough Recruitment in Singapore.
