A change in leadership at one of the region’s largest industrial specialists leads this week’s look at personnel moves from around Asia Pacific, with GLP naming a new mainland China chief. Also making the list is the unfortunate demise of one of Hong Kong’s best known investors and Korean market leader IGIS has named new leadership for its international unit based in Singapore.
GLP announced on 14 January that it has promoted Angela Zhao to chief executive of its China business. Having first joined GLP in 2003, Zhao takes on the top role at GLP China as Teresa Zhuge, who formerly served as vice chair and co-president of the mainland unit, moves to an unspecified global role. Zhao had served most recently as co-president of China logistics and industrial real estate, according to the announcement.
David Webb, a former investment banker, shareholder activist and advocate for reform of Hong Kong’s financial markets, passed away on 13 January from metastatic prostate cancer, according to a statement on his social media account. A former board member with the Hong Kong exchange, Webb was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire in June for his efforts to improve corporate governance and transparency.
IGIS Asset Management has named Andie Kang Young-goo as chief executive of IGIS Asia, its Singapore-based offshore unit, according to a company representative. Kang is being shifted from his role as CEO of IGIS’ domestic unit in a move to accelerate decision-making and enhance links with global fund managers, according to a statement, with the company also said to be ramping up headcount at IGIS Asia.
The manager of CapitaLand Ascendas REIT has named Paul Tham Wei Hsing to a non-executive director position on its board with effect from 16 January, according to an announcement to the Singapore stock exchange. Tham has been group chief financial officer with CapitaLand Investment since January 2023, after joining the company from Keppel Group in 2021, where he had served as CEO of Keppel REIT.
The manager of Stoneweg Europe Stapled Trust announced to the Singapore stock exchange on 12 January that it appointed Kuan Li Li to an independent, non-executive director role on its board with effect from that day. Kuan had served as country head and chief operating officer for the Singapore branch of UK bank Barclays from 2014 to 2017 before taking on the chief financial officer role at ABB Singapore from 2018 through 2019.
Far East Hospitality Management has promoted Mark Rohner to managing director with effect from this month, according to a LinkedIn update. Rohner takes on the senior role with the hotel management division of Singapore’s Far East Organization after being named deputy managing director in September of last year. The former GIC and Shangri-La executive joined Far East Hospitality in 2024 as chief operating officer.
John Jackman has joined Zerra DC in Sydney as chief financial officer with the data centre developer and operator, according to a LinkedIn update. Jackman joins the company after more than six years as a managing director with Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners in Hong Kong. Stonepeak in 2023 took a preferred stake in Singapore’s AGP Sustainable Real Assets, with AGP having introduced Zerra this month as a rebranding of its AGP DC data centre division.
Dylan Ong Jia Jing has been promoted to chief strategy officer with Hong Lai Huat Group in Singapore, according to a LinkedIn update. Ong, son of Hong Lai Huat executive deputy chairman and chief executive officer Johnny Ong Bee Huat, takes on his new role this month after working as group general manager and executive director with the Singapore developer and investor since 2020.
